Yarn Along

~ Two of my favorite things are knitting and reading, and the evidence of this often shows up in my photographs.  I love seeing what other people are knitting and reading as well. So, what are you knitting or crocheting right now? What are you reading? Take a photo and share it either on your blog or on Flickr. Leave a link below to share your photo with the rest of us! ~

I think I knit fewer stitches over the last seven days than I have in any given week over the past couple of years.  I may be wrong, but it’s definitely true that very little knitting has happened since last Wednesday.  I did divide for the sleeves on Bea’s sweater and knit a few rows past, but that’s it.

Reading on the other hand, I did.  I finished The Prize Winner of Defiance, Ohio.  I highly recommend it.  Now, based on recommendations I received on this post, I am reading An Everlasting Meal.  I definitely like it.  I am not the same sort of cook that the author is, a natural, but I’m learning.

  1. Hi, there : ) I’m new here and it is just lovely to have found your blog..And I’m reading Everlasting Meal, too! Well, I pull it out whenever I need quiet, kitchen inspiration..

    Thanks for hosting.

    God bless,

  2. Thanks for the book recommendations – I was searching for something for my book club tonight, and was pleased to find that our library system has enough copies of “The Prizewinner….” to go around. You saved me some panic.

  3. I have had an incredibly slow knitting week too. Not many stitches happening for no real reason. I’m re-reading a couple of the yarn harlot’s books while working on some socks.

  4. Thanks Ginny!

  5. I loved The Prizewinner book. Read it many years ago. What a mom!

  6. Sometimes life is so busy that knitting can’t be done… you did a lot with that bookshelf though, I remember! I’ve read the OH book… have the Everlasting Meal… still need to finish it! wishing you peace for the rest of the week in the midst of all that it will contain… and a chance to knit!

  7. “The Prize Winner of Defiance, Ohio” sounds extremely interesting. I’ll have to check that one out!

  8. The prizewinner book sounds very interesting. I’m going to add it my goodreads queue.

  9. the everlasting meal changed the way i cook! such an interesting book. and i just had to get the leksak pattern after your post last week. great post-partum knitting!

  10. I saw the movie about the Prizewinner — I can’t really remember if I loved it. You are a fast knitter, Ginny! I guess I would be a bit faster if I had the right amount of yarn and didn’t always have to stop to order more 🙂 But I’m still not very fast.
    God bless you!

  11. I read everlasting a year or two ago and overall enjoyed the book. However I don’t think I’ve implemented any of the ideas except for roasted veggies 🙂

  12. I am reading an Everlasting Meal too! And you know what, Ginny? This is not the first time our reading choices have aligned. Too bad my knitting doesn’t follow suite. Your work is beautiful (and speedy!)

    Happy week!

  13. I also liked the Everlasting Meal and need to re-read it.
and oh – thank you for the recommendation of the other book – I am sure I would enjoy it too.
    Thinking of you.

  14. Thanks for hosting!!

  15. I really enjoyed reading The Everlasting Meal. I may need to revisits it. It like her natural approach and simplicity. I also should be prepping a bit more in advance. No knitting here lately.

  16. Perhaps you are knitting less because the weather has been warmer? I’ve been trying to squeeze in as many projects as I can before it gets too hot to knit! 🙂

  17. Thank you for hosting! I enjoy your blog. 🙂

  18. I enjoyed “The Prize Winner” as well. It is set in a small town in Ohio near where I grew up, so the setting was very familiar and nostalgic for me! Love your yarn colors – so pretty!

  19. An Everlasting Meal is one of my all time favorite books. I am buying copies of the book for all the cooks in my family to add to baskets for Christmas gifts.

  20. I’ve added that book to my wish list…Mother’s Day is coming. 🙂
