~ Two of my favorite things are knitting and reading, and the evidence of this often shows up in my photographs. I love seeing what other people are knitting and reading as well. So, what are you knitting or crocheting right now? What are you reading? Take a photo and share it either on your blog or on Flickr. Leave a link below to share your photo with the rest of us! ~
Knitting: I am just a few rows away from dividing for the sleeves on Beatrix’s Leksak.
Reading: The Dollmaker, recommended by a friend. It is well reviewed and considered a “landmark of American fiction.” What got me was this phrase from the description, speaking of the main character, “her triumphant ability to create beauty in the suffocating shadow of ugliness and despair.” Thank you all so much for making my Seashore Cowl Raffle such a huge success!

Ginny, your cowl is lovely. The colors are beautiful! I have never read the Dollmaker book but I have seen the movie. I believe it stared Jane Fonda. The movie was heart wrenching. I will look for the book at my library.

Your book selection intrigued me. I had to go and read about The Dollmaker, on Amazon and Goodreads. I can tell this is an amazing book about subjects that I would completely resonate with. However, like you, I am not sure it’s a book I should be reading right now, when I’m trying to just hold on to the joy of life in spite of sorrow! Thanks for sharing.

Ginny,
I’m loving that blue yarn. What a perfect color for Beatrix.
I like that description from the book too. I’ll be curious to see what you think of it.
I’m so glad you’re getting so close to your goal for your friend and her family!! That is so wonderful!
Love,
Taryn

I added my weekly yarn along post already earlier this afternoon but a conversation this evening let to the fact that I had to write another one about my love for knitting & my gratitute. Gratitude for you hosting this yarn along and bringing together bloggers so that we can share our experience and love. I might be a bit emotional right now (which I’m usually not…) but I just want to say thank you: You and of course all those other lovely ladies here changed my life as a knitter!
Paula says
I’ve seen that movie, with Jane Fonda. It’s rather sad. Hope you are enjoying the book.
Heather says
How do you find your patterns, Ginny? You always have the most gorgeous projects going!
Ginny says
Thanks, Heather! I guess I sort of find them all over the place. I almost never get on Pinterest, but the one time I did a couple of weeks ago this pattern was the first thing I saw! It’s also neat to go on Ravelry and look at your friends activity. Sometimes I see projects that I like there.

Oh my, The Dollmaker is grim. I don’t think I would recommend it for anyone postpartum. I’ll be curious to hear what you think. I read it on my honeymoon 19 years ago, before I had children of my own.
Ginny says
I’m really glad you mentioned that! I tend to like this sort of book, but I don’t think it’s what I need right now! I may save it for later.
Samantha Disch says
Okay, also good to know… thinking about getting it from the library… but maybe i too, will wait!
Meryl says
