Yarn Along

~ Two of my favorite things are knitting and reading, and the evidence of this often shows up in my photographs.  I love seeing what other people are knitting and reading as well. So, what are you knitting or crocheting right now? What are you reading? Take a photo and share it either on your blog or on Flickr. Leave a link below to share your photo with the rest of us! ~

20140401-DSC_3111Last week I clicked over to Pinterest and the first thing I saw was this sweet little sweater.  I immediately starting brainstorming about what yarn I wanted to knit it in.  Once my chosen yarn arrived, I dropped all other knitting projects.  I may be unrealistic in thinking that I can get this sweater finished for Beatrix (and next there will be one for Larkspur) before it’s too hot to wear it, but my plan is to knit it big enough that she can wear it next fall and spring.  So far I’m not doing very well.  I started knitting the yoke and then realized that I really ought to be slipping the first stitch of every row to make picking up stitches easier and neater when I get to the front bands.  I ripped back almost to the beginning and started slipping those first stitches.  Next I realized that I was slipping incorrectly so I ripped back again.  I’ll get it right sooner or later, and at least I can say that this yarn holds up well to frogging.

I finished To Kill a Mockingbird and then didn’t read anything for a couple of days.  A book like that needs space to settle.  I’m back to reading Shirt of Flame, still loving Heather King’s frank and honest writing.

**Please visit on Thursday because I am raffling off a really beautiful finished hand knit!

  1. Ginny, your knits are so beautiful. I’d love to know how you choose your yarn? How did you learn about all the different brands of yarn? Usually I just follow the pattern or ask the woman at my local yarn store but sometimes that can be a bit limiting. Thanks!

  2. Added to my queue immediately!

  3. Ginny,
I love that pattern and what a pretty color for it!

    Love,
    Taryn

  4. Oh that sweater is going to lovely. Can’t wait to see it on one of the girls!

  5. You are the queen of new projects. And I have some serious yarn envy. 😉

I am savoring The Flame. A little goes a long way.

  6. Hey Ginny!!
I can’t tell you how fun it is to be knitting your pattern again. You did such a good job! I remember watching it climb up the pattern page that day, calling you SO excited. Feels like forever ago. I hope another pattern is rattling around your brain…I would love to knit another of your creations…
    Happy Lent my friend!!

    Lisa

  7. Wow love that yarn! Thanks for the link- I may need some for my own Easter basket 😉

  8. That is the cutest sweater!! I can see why you want to make it!! Always good to learn, even if by frogging, which is a bit of a bummer 🙁 … but you are doing well and I can’t wait to see it when it’s done! 🙂 Blessed 5th week of Lent to you and your family!! We are getting there, thank God!

    I should re-read To Kill A Mockingbird again sometime, it’s been a while…

  9. Thanks for hosting!

  10. I’m just so in love with the yarn you chose. I really love any blue, but that blue is especially lovely. 🙂

  11. That will be an adorable little swaeter:)
    Thanks Ginny!

  12. I saw you favorite that on ravelry this week and love it! It’s beautiful.

  13. What a lovely jumper, great for over dresses. X

  14. Lovely colour choice Ginny and a sweet pattern too 🙂

  15. Oh my, I tried to link up but my link isn’t showing up and then when I retried, thinking I’d made a mistake, it says my link is already up… sigh. Maybe it’ll show up eventually! Your sweater is going to be lovely, Ginny. Thanks for being real about the frogging. So nice to know I’m not the only one who does things like that!

    Blessings, ~Lisa

  16. I’m knitting one up, too! I had the hardest time choosing a yarn (because we’re poor and I must choose carefully…I know you must hear it a lot, but I just can’t really afford much yarn and I can’t wrap my mind around how much yarn bloggers buy) and a colour. I really went back & forth between a very neutral beige or something more Springy. I ended up with a turquoise/gold heather (neither, of course!). Then…I came across a pattern for the most adorable summer top ever and I want about another 30 dollars in yarn! Oy!

  17. That is going to be such a sweet little sweater. I hope your knitting goes better this week. Frogging is so annoying. I’m so glad your yarn hold up. Thanks for hosting Yarn Along.

  18. I saw the same pattern and have plans to knit one for Emerson, but since the temps are now in the 80’s I have plenty of time.

  19. I saw that sweater last week in Ravelry, adorable and you can get it done!! Looks lovely 🙂

  20. Ginny, thanks for hosting. I’m another To Kill a Mockingbird fan!

    Best,
    Sheila
