Yarn Along

~ Two of my favorite things are knitting and reading, and the evidence of this often shows up in my photographs.  I love seeing what other people are knitting and reading as well. So, what are you knitting or crocheting right now? What are you reading? Take a photo and share it either on your blog or on Flickr. Leave a link below to share your photo with the rest of us! ~

DSC_3253-1Beatrix’s purple sweater is finished and blocked, and I cast on for Larkspur’s new Phoebe’s Sweater this week.  My goal is to finish it this month so that I can focus on more baby knitting next month.

I took the advice of many of you, and decided to stick with reading The Woman in White.  I’m about one hundred pages in, and really liking it.  In fact, I am finding myself choosing reading over knitting when I have the opportunity in the evening, so it must be good.

  1. The red is so vibrant!

  2. The yarn you use looks gorgeous Ginny, and I’m sure the sweater will be most warm and cosy in these Autumn and Winter months. I haven’t read The Woman In White yet, but as it is a free book for Kindle devices I have just downloaded it and added it to my to-read list. What I read in the preview shows a lot of promise 🙂 Thank you for hosting the Yarn Along, I’m fairly new to it yet, but I love it!

  3. Wilkie Collins is one of my all time favourite authors. I can recommend The Moonstone and Armadale by him too, all wonderful books. Enjoy!

  4. Ginny,
Wow, you are making so much knitting progress. What a blessing for your girls to have handknit sweaters.
Yes, that must be a good book- when I would rather read than knit I know it’s a good one. 🙂

I’m excited because I’m doing cabling in my knitting for the first time and it feels very momentous for me.

  5. been a fan on the sidelines for ages now, but for the first time actually linking this week and very excited! x

  6. That red yarn is beautiful. Thanks for hosting the Yarn Along.

  7. Ginny, I am impressed with all of your knitting. It seriously takes me weeks to make a scarf… I am *so* slow! 🙂 Enjoy these precious pre-baby days! Wishing you well.

  8. Red yarn on knitting needles and a book that you can’t put down. This is good. 🙂

  9. I love the red yarn I noticed it on your post about the baseball game. I really enjoyed The Woman in White too…I think it’s a great autumnal snuggling up in bed read.

  10. Hope you are feeling well Ginny. The book sounds great. I LOVE a good English book-although I always end up needing to stock up on tea and biscuits as there is usually talk of tea and I get hungry.

  11. I’ve always wanted to read Wilkiw Ollins, I hope I’ll do it soon.

Thanks fos hosting, have a great day!

  12. The Woman in White is one of my all-time-favorite books. My grandmother was british and we used to watch an old PBS Masterpiece Theatre series of the Woman in White that was spectacular. I’ve read the book about three times now – and I’m not a serious reader or anything. I love the strength of the female characters.

  13. I love the Phoebe sweater and have had in my favorites on Ravelry for a long time! It might find its way on my needles soon! I love the yarn and color you chose… as always!

  14. Ginny, That red is gorgeous! What yarn are you using. It looks so soft and almost like cotton or a blend but I am sure it is wool. So pretty! You are doing a good job! Just stay put and knit my friend

  15. Love the red! And yay for more baby knitting – you can never do enough of that! 😉

I can’t see the linky list today, so here is mine:

  16. Gorgeous red for the new phoebe sweater!

  17. My daughter is named Phoebe so I will one day knit her a Phoebe’s Sweater as well! Can’t seem to get linked up with you this morning. Will try again later….

  18. That is a sure sign of a good book!

  19. I’m having trouble with the inlinkz form. I just wanted to chime in and share. I’m working on a scarf for a friend of mine and reading Start by Jon Acuff and Moby Dick.

  20. What a beautiful pattern, I love the colour you are using, very pretty. Have a great week, happy reading and knitting. Deb x

  21. That red will make a beautiful Phoebe’s sweater. It makes me wish I had a little girl to knit one for. 😉

  22. Phoebe’s sweater is lovely. It would look great on my daughter. FYI, I’m trying to link up, but don’t see where you put your link in.

  23. One of the reasons I love audio books so much is that I’m able to knit and enjoy a good story at the same time………..beautiful colour yarn.

  24. Thank you for hosting today. Loving your red and thinking of the USA red, white and blue today….9/11 here for us. God Bless the USA!

I am reading an old fav….The Other Side Of Midnight by Sidney Sheldon.

  25. Trying to link up but don’t see a button?

  26. I have been trying to train myself to knit and read at the same time. Elizabeth Zimmermann says it can be done, so here’s hoping!

  27. I’m going to attempt the phoebe sweater for the first time for my girls…any tips?

  28. That is such a cute girl’s sweater pattern. The accompanying book looks really sweet, too.

If you ever find that it’s easier to listen to a book, the CraftLit Podcast covered The Woman in White.(http://crafting-a-life.com/craftlit/?cat=91)

Heather Ordover always has some really great book discussions on the books that get covered. Just a thought. 🙂

  29. I really do love that Osprey yarn ~ the color is wonderful. And I found myself doing the same with choosing reading over knitting this week! Which is why not a lot of knitting got done this week. 😉 hope you’re feeling well today ~ have a blessed day!

  30. What a wonderful color you are using, it’s one of my favorites.
I just added your book to my list, I haven’t read it either and a book that is so good you would rather read than knit must be good.

  31. The Phoebe sweater is such a fun knit … did you hear Joanna is doing an Anne of Green Gables knitting book … Green Gables Knits (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0578124688?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creativeASIN=0578124688&linkCode=xm2&tag=stathanablog-20) is due out towards the end of November (perfect for Christmas gifting!)

  32. Gorgeous color! Glad that you are one sweater done and one to go, that should be a breeze right?? When you get to the baby knitting then you’ll be finishing an item daily since babies are so tiny 🙂
