Yarn Along

~ Two of my favorite things are knitting and reading, and the evidence of this often shows up in my photographs. I love seeing what other people are knitting and reading as well. So, what are you knitting or crocheting right now? What are you reading? Take a photo and share it either on your blog or on Flickr. Leave a link below to share your photo with the rest of us! ~

I read An Invisible Thread this week, and really liked it.  It is the story of an “unlikely” friendship between the author, a busy executive, and a young boy whom she meets one day when he is out panhandling and asks her for change.  They end up becoming lifelong friends, and it is a great story, a hopeful one.

I began the task of reworking portions of Silas’ brown sweater.  I have added a bit of length to the hood and the body, and now need to redo that tricky button band.  Somehow, posting about his sweater last week gave me the push I needed to get started.  I am also working on several baby projects.  Maybe I can share some of them later this week!

(I couldn’t resist putting Em-Em in my photo!)

  1. May I join please?
I have just started to knit and crochet again and also love embroidery.
    Thank you

  2. Kittens make every picture better. 🙂

  3. I’ve added the widget and will join in with the Yarn Along on Wednesday, I’ve seen lots of YA posts lately and want to join the fun! I’m always making and reading so it’s going to be no stretch.
    Thanks for a great idea!

  4. You are much more patient than me! I never rework stuff. I always end up putting it aside and never getting back to it. And thanks for recommending The Snow Child a few yarn alongs ago. I loved it! I had to read something lighter after though. haha This book looks great too. I’ll have to try it next.

  5. This will be my last one for about 3 months. I’ll still be working on something, but I won’t be posting about it.

  6. I’m a day late again… it’s just being one of those weeks!
    xx

  7. sweet little pussykins!

  12. love the picture- hoping that I am able to attempt sweaters by the fall! I get so excited to meet other kids named Silas! My Silas is 8 and we have only met a couple other kiddos named Silas. My husband dreamt his name when I was pregnant with him. Enjoying joining you for yarn along

  13. Cutest kitty ever! And, ooooo, Silas’s sweater is shaping up nicely.

  14. This looks like such a great book! I will add it to my list. Thanks for the recommendation.

    P.S. Love your sweater too!

  15. Beautiful kitty! Not showing her to anyone here though because I know where it would lead 🙂 good luck with your rework its a beautiful sweater!
I linked back to you post on artful parenting – loving the book!

    Em-Em is so precious.

  17. Kitty + Sweater + Book = Happiness

In other words, I like your photo. 🙂

    Happy knitting!

  18. We’ve been having cooler temps and a lot of rain this June and it has me too pressing into the knitting in a particularly head-on way. The weather won’t last but I hope the can-do attitude will. 🙂 Loving the wool in Silas’s sweater…

    Blessings, Debbie

  19. You are doing so well on this sweater!! and Em-Em is so cute. Sometimes pets I’ve found can be a real blessing in our lives and in our families; always a point of connection. Sending love from me and my cat Cleo today (she is sitting near by bathing quietly while I type…) 🙂

  20. Great sweater…love seeing all the wonderful knits you get done.

  21. So does this mean you guys got a kitten? 😉

  22. Your kitten is so pretty, and love the jumper you are working on. The book sounds like a good read too!

  23. Hi Ginny,
It really is so fun to see the pictures for the Yarn Along link-up! You inspired me and I started using the same link-up for my Gratitude Sunday last weekend, so the pictures could be seen. I’m so glad I did.

Good for you- diving in and doing the changes on Silas’s sweater. I know doing things like that can be intimidating to get going on. Your readers are cheering you on! 🙂

That book sounds good. I like hope-filled stories.

And Em-Em makes a nice addition to the Yarn Along picture. 🙂

    Love,
    Taryn

  24. Thanks for the book recommendation, that’s one for the ever growing Amazon Wishlist.
    Em-Em is very cute.

  25. Em Em is a cutie:) Hope you feel way better today!
    Thanks for hosting Yarn Along!

  26. Very cute sweater. I can’t wait to see your baby things that you are working on! I have a few to work on myself.

  27. Thanks for hosting!!

The kitten is lovely and so your project.

  28. That kitten! I am hoping I don’t stumble on such cuteness because I would have to bring it home too.

  29. Thank you for another great book title to add to my list!

  30. Thanks for the book recommend. I’ve just added it to my ever growing queue. Glad to see that kitty is adjusting well to her new home.

  31. Silas’s brown seater looks a lot like Chloe’s brown hooded cardigan, just way littler of course. Which reminds that I still need to make the sleeves longer for it…
I hope you are feeling better, and enjoying your flowers!! Love to you and family!!! XOXO Renee

  32. That is one seriously cute kitten, Ginny (and, of course, your knitting is beautiful too). 🙂 I also love the photos you posted last week of Silas wearing the brown coat. The coat is beautiful and Silas is an adorable model.

  33. It sounds like a wonderful book and after the disappointing book I just read I could use something good.

  34. The book sounds good. I am adding it to my list!
