Little Meadows {August}

Hi! My Little Meadows shop will be updated today at 2 pm ET. This month I have worked on dyeing organic cotton velvet with fall and winter crafting in mind. I have really enjoyed making adorable little mushrooms using the velvet for the tops. I want them in all colors! I am selling the velvet by the piece, but also have three sets of ten in small pieces, just in case you’d like to make something small in each color or just want see most of the colors. The velvet is tricky to dye, I suppose because of all the texture. I’ve spent many hours stirring the dye pot this month! Some colors dye really evenly, and some are more irregular. I really love the look of both, so I’m not sure I would want it any other way. All of them translate really well into small handmade projects.

It’s not quite scarf weather here yet, but I went ahead and dyed a small batch of neck scarves because it will be cooling off before we know it! Cotton gauze is light and airy and makes such a wonderful scarf. I love all five colors and think they will be lovely going into fall. The steely blue-gray (an accidental color!) is maybe my favorite. I also dyed a big batch of headscarves, possibly the last for this year. I guess it all depends on what everyone asks for!

I tried to make more sets of sachets than in previous months and managed 18 sets: 3 each of 6 fabric combinations. I love the Liberty fabric and think these are all so pretty. I filled them with more lavender and cedar than previously, so they will be a bit plumper from here on out!

And finally, I have lots of Tilly Goat’s Milk Soap ready! I am having fun coming up with new soap ideas for this fall. This month I have one of my favorites, spearmint patchouli ready, along with soft citrus which I know is a favorite of many of you. I also have a small batch of lavender fields for those of you who have requested just plain lavender! There is also beeswax and honey soap for those who want something without any added essential oils for fragrance. The beeswax and honey does have it’s own unique scent, the result of the honey heating up during the saponification process. It’s warm and almost nutty smelling, completely unexpected and wonderful!

p.s. One more thing that I want to add: I am insuring every single package that I ship now, even the smallest of orders. While last month’s orders all arrived at their destinations safely, there were a couple that were delayed in transit. Most orders will be shipping out by Monday unless something unforeseen happens on my end. I typically ship out orders very quickly. I tell myself that I will pace things, and package a certain number each day, but my personality doesn’t really allow for that. Once I get going, I can’t stop! I also want you to get your orders as quickly as possible!  However, there is a possibility that your order will be delayed in transit because of issues with USPS. You can rest assured knowing that your order will be insured in the unlikely case that something happens to it!
