I have been working on some things for you! Actually, I have been working on all of this for months! But it’s been hard to pull everything together for a shop update. So here I am, announcing last minute that I’ll be updating my shop today at 2 pm ET. I wanted to give more notice, but I realized that Mother’s Day is going to be here soon and you might want to buy gifts!
So here’s a quick rundown of what I will be listing:
There will be 29 skeins of single-ply yarn. (There were 30 but I kept one to knit a hat!) This is a yarn I haven’t offered in quite some time. Some of you might remember it. It’s a very soft silk, alpaca, merino blend that takes natural color so beautifully. I love it. I used it to design and knit my Hackberry hat. If you buy a skein and would like to knit a Hackberry, send me a message either via email or convo me on Etsy letting me know and I will email you the pattern at no charge.
I have a stack of naturally dyed cotton velvet pieces available. I dyed a bunch for myself to sew into mushrooms and love it. I thought some of you might want to make some too, so I dyed more for the shop! More details on the ones I made and the pattern I followed in this post. I’m planning to make a bunch more mushrooms in all the colors for a garland. (I was thinking ahead and channeling autumn with those colors.) This fabric would be great for other small handicrafts as well.
I have headscarves ready! I think this set of colors is my favorite ever and I am having a hard time not keeping one of each. My girls and their friends wear these tied around their necks now and it’s really cute so I’ve been doing the same!
It’s been a while since I’ve offered sachets, and I think they would make such nice Mother’s Day gifts so I sewed some sets of three for the shop. These are filled with lavender and cedar shavings and they smell so nice! I’m listing a small batch of goat’s milk soap as well.
Finally, as many others have been doing, I’ve been sewing masks to share over the past month. I have about 30 ready to go right now and I would like to share them with you if you are in need of one. If you place an order totaling $20 or more and need a mask, please add a note to your order (one per order please!) You can specify the white pattern or blue and I will honor those requests as long as I can, and until I run out of masks. These masks are made from two layers of cotton quilting fabric and have a pipe cleaner sewn in along the top edge to mold to the bridge of your nose. (So don’t microwave them to disinfect as I have seen some people mention doing that! It will catch fire!) The masks are a bit imperfect because I am not the world’s best seamstress, but also because I cut them all out following a pattern that required elastic, but then had to change direction when the elastic I ordered didn’t arrive. They are still functional and pretty as far as masks go! The nice thing is that the stretchy ties I made by cutting up (new) tank tops are very comfortable! I like this style better than those that fit around the ears.
I have had messages coming in asking about playsilks. I’m not sure when I will have them again, but I hope that I can offer them by early summer. Honestly, it really depends on how sales go between now and then. Everything feels shaky and uncertain and I am a little afraid to invest in more things for my shop. I’m hoping for the best and will keep you updated! Thanks for your support!
Love,
Ginny

Ginny,
I think I prayed the most when my kids were the age of your oldest two. Our mother’s hearts want the very best for them.
Keep praying and trust God. Mine all took different paths than I had mapped out for them. But the best for them. Today all are married with families and are doing exactly what God has for their lives.
It will be ok.
Hugs
Connie

Ginny, I need more sachets. The other day when my grandson was putting his clothes in the drawer he showed me one I had given him and said how wonderful it smelled.

Hi Ginny,
I went to the shop but did not see any of these things there. I did a search for the sachets but it came up empty. Do I need to be signed in to Etsy in order to view your new items?
The only thing I could view were the pictures.
Thank you for you help. Everything looks lovely, especially the yarn.

Are you willing to share the mask pattern? I’m curious as to how the ties work. Are they one piece or two? Thank you.

Hi Ginny your masks look lovely I use to quilt and sew and now at 77 I cannot do either. I hope you are doing all you can to not get the Covid 19 . We are doing pretty well up here in Ontario Canada but the long term seniors homes and other seniors residents are doing poorly. I have the same thyroid problems that you have and also Fibromyalgia. I have been pretty happy to stay at home but I see its difficult for my husband and grandchildren . Please don’t listen to your president and ingest any disinfectant S. Lol . I have been reading your blog for years and your family is growing up and such beautiful children.
I hope you are feeling well. Since I live in Canada I can’t buy your beautiful products but enjoy looking at them. Blessings to you and your family Sandra
