The Montpelier Fall Fiber Festival did not disappoint this year! I think it was my favorite festival in years. The weather was almost chilly for a change (it’s been hot in recent years) and I bought a little bit of yarn…
When I buy yarn at the fiber festival I am typically looking for something special: single breed yarns bought from the farmers who raised the sheep. This year I came home with a few skeins of Rambouillet and a few Romney. I had a lovely time chatting with the farmers and Jonny had a great time teasing me for buying more yarn. “More skeins for your bins!”
I’ll get to them all someday, won’t I?

So much fun!! The yarn you chose is beautiful! My whole family loves attending these festivals! When we lived up that way we went to the Shenandoah Valley Fiber Festival and the Maryland Sheep and Wool Festival. I never bought much yarn, but it was such a fun day spent with my family walking around and looking and checking out the animals…..and my kids always loved getting a popcorn or ice cream treat 🙂

I use to say:”I can never have too much yarn!” After our move and forced to pack it all, I have plenty of yarn, it will out live me;-} I now only buy for special projects if I can’t find the ‘right’ yarn in my stash. This means, I buy little new yarn! It’s challenging and fun to look at my stash and be creative using what I have.
However, I do love a good Yarn Festival!

Every time I see pictures of Mabel she reminds me of Kiersten in the Children of Noisy Village books by Astrid Lindgren. I hope you are familiar with those—they are my very favorite books! So dear. Looks like a lovely yarn festival!

Was that woman spinning right from the bunny?! That’s amazing! These photos are fantastic. Beautiful yarn, too. 🙂 Our local fiber festival is happening in a couple of weeks and I can’t wait! I rarely buy much but it’s still fun to go.

I was there too and you’re right – it was a Gorgeous day for the festival. Cool, not raining, and the ground wasn’t even damp with dew. Actually, my daughter & I were a few thousand people behind you in the ice cream line. That was a really long line, but the ice cream was so worth it!

I love the deep brown of your shirt. Where did you get it? I too love the way your children dress and your natural lifestyle. I wish I could find a way to incorporate more of it into my life. You keep me going!

I so love your pictures – the way your girls dress – your family’s love of natural things & projects. Sometimes I cry – like today, but good tears. I’m a Grama of 70+ and miss similar homeschool days I had with my sons. Now they’re hundreds of miles away, so I’ll live a bit vicariously once in a while through your blog. And continue to knit crochet and sew for anyone who needs a gift.

Darling Husband asks, “How much yarn do you need?”
Snarky Me replies, “All of it.”
Emily DeArdo says
Oh yeah. That’s my answer, too. Except it’s my father asking that question!

Love seeing these photos! It looks like you all had so much fun. (You can never have enough yarn — at least that’s what I tell myself!!) Larkspur’s hat is just beautiful!! What is the pattern?
Love and blessings,

Can you tell me where you purchase your girls dresses from?

Oh I would love to attend a festival like that. Ok so I’ve never seen someone spin yarn directly from the animal. Maybe that’s not even the right terminology. But is that what she is doing with the rabbit or are my eyes deceiving me ☺️
Oh off the subject— but after 5 years of working on my diet— don’t get discouraged by that it might have taken me longer just to figure things out- but my TPO antibodies are down from 241 to 56!! Yay, so excited.
Also Carrie Vitt at Deliciously Organic has a great article on Adrenal fatigue and much to offer on thyroid issues. ?if you haven’t checked her out o would encourage you took look at her website and recipes. Blessings!!!

I’d like to think I would get to all the yarn I have bought over the last 25 years, but now at 72 – and with technically enough yarn to “out live” me in my stash, I know that hope is probably wrong. But it has made me more careful about my purchases and I really try to knit from stash. It is not always possible but I try. Love the stuff you purchased. And your projects are beautiful. I think fall fairs are the very best ones!!

Oh! That looks like so much fun. And your photos capture it beautifully. What kind of sheep is that on the woman’s lap?
