~Two of my favorite things are knitting and reading and I love sharing my projects and current reads here. I would love for you to join me each month and share what you are knitting (or crocheting) and reading too! Post your photo(s) on your blog or on Instagram (#yarnalong) and then share a link below to either your blog or Instagram post!~ (this post contains affiliate links.)
May was not my month for knitting. In fact, as far as knitting goes, this was the least productive month for me in the entire decade or so that I’ve been knitting. I did start a cardigan for Mabel in some pomegranate extract dyed yarn, and I hope I can finish it for this fall.
I just finished re-reading Howards End for my book club. I last read it in 2012, and I have to admit that I remembered almost NONE of the story reading it this time. I mean, crazy stuff happens at the end of this book. There are major events, and it was as if I was reading the final thirty pages for the first time. Does this ever happen to you? I think I appreciated it more this time around, but it’s still not one of my favorite books. I did get a laugh reading what I wrote about it last time I read it.

Oh, sorry, I was in such a hurry I forgot to put my profile info for my comment about the book When God Made You by Jane Meyer. In case the comment got lost, it is my latest favorite children’s book that I have given to three families so far, all of whom love it. I think you would, too.

My knitting has been slow going as well. I’m having a weird flare up of RA but I think it’s mostly over. I was so busy that linking only happened just today….

Oh yes, my memory is extremely patchy. I’m an English and Literature teacher, so it’s really annoying that even when I’ve taught a book several years in a row, I still have to go back and reread it the next time we come to that part of the curriculum. Time consuming!

Love the little sweater for Mabel, I put it on my ‘to do’ , thanks for the recomendation. Your May sure was full! I know for me, spring , summer and fall thru canning season is very busy and my children are all grown, out on their own. Im looking forward to summer dying of yarn and now wool fabrics.
Have a great week!

That happens to me as well. I have so many other little things bouncing around in my brain that the non-essentials gets crowded out. I read Howard’s End for the first time this winter, after watching the new series on Prime Video. I liked the book, despite its shortcomings.

I haven’t read Howard’s End in forever….might need to pick that one up again!

It is so funny (and a bit terrifying) how much we forget! Recently I was rewatching an old show with my husband that we had watched a couple of years ago and I couldn’t remember almost anything that was going to happen, while he remembered all of it (even though it was a show he disliked). Its a bit disturbing sometimes– I wonder what else I’m forgetting? I guess we’ll never know. 🙂 Anyway, I do hope you find more time for knitting. Not that it’s everything, but you do make such beautiful things! I’m eager to see how the Clun Forest base knits up.

Oh, that happens to me a lot. I have books that I reread every few years and the ending or some of the plot twists can still surprise me. My husband remembers every little detail of all the books he has read, so he never rereads anything. I just remember if I liked a book or not and happily start reading it again. I’m not sure if I have a bad memory, or my brain just works differently. I do read a lot more books (at least ten times more) than he does, so I prefer to think my memory is fine (it is for other things).
