We are having an awfully busy spring!
Pippi, or “Pip” for short is fitting in quite nicely here. I’m so happy we brought her home! Having a team of people to help take care of her sure does make this puppy thing easier. Of course, the challenge is working to teach her not to bite and chew everything and everybody. Mabel loves her until she gets feisty and starts trying to turn her into a chew toy.
A second swarm of bees moved into one of our empty hives. This time we think it originated from our own hive, but we haven’t had a chance to investigate yet. We’re just happy the swarm didn’t land thirty feet up in a tree! I thought we might be getting out of beekeeping, but here we are back up to three hives.
I don’t know if I mentioned it, but baseball season is here, and Jonny is head coach! He convinced our county to turn the all-star rec team into a showcase team. This is a big commitment, and I am doing my best not to get resentful of the time Jonny, Keats, and Gabe are away. I miss weekends, but it’s not forever, right?
I spent the past week dyeing a small batch (I only have 28 skeins) of very special yarn. I’m hoping to get in my shop on Friday morning at 11 a.m. ET along with a handful of scarves in some new colors that I’m excited about. I’ll post more details on the yarn on Friday morning, along with photos of the flock of sheep that provided the wool! This yarn is very local to me, so I’m pretty pleased to be sharing it. I can’t wait to show you more!

Your spring will whiz by with that puppy! I love her name too. I think April was a blink and over, May hopefully will last a bit longer, right?

Sounds (and looks) like the springy-est! Baseball, puppies, bees and flowers. Good strength!

Ginny, Will your boys be selling the baseball dishcloths again? Mine from a few years ago are getting a little worn out.

The yarn looks so lovely! My husband bought one of the hap shawl kits you had for sale in your last update for me for mother’s day and it’s taking an awful lot of restraint for me to not open the package.

I have questions. How did you get swarms in your empty hives? Did you leave them open, top off? Did they have drawn comb in them? Honey? I didn’t get any bees this year, and I’m beginning to regret it. I’m wondering if I can attract a swarm.

I just love the precious photos and how natural and joyful life can be when you allow it. I am returning from a visit to TX to see my Step grandchildren and am feeling very sad about the conditions they live in. Oh, the house is grand, there’s plenty of money and food but there’s no fun or joy in the house. There are 3 children 9, a girl, 7, a boy and 4, a girl. There life consists of extreme structure and rules. As soon as they enter the house the parents scream, shoes off and wash your hands. They are not allowed to sit on the couch or open the door to the outside because the alarm is constantly on, day and night. There toys and belongings are in their rooms and not to be brought downstairs. Their house has an iron gate around it and the gate goes across the driveway at the front. It’s so extreme – they’re are yelled at for making noise or running around. They must be in bed by 6:30 – all of them. The 9 year old can read. It’s like a prison and there’s so little expressions of love.
I see your family running free, having fun and looking so joyful – what a gift you give them with your love and caring. God Bless?
