~Two of my favorite things are knitting and reading and I love sharing my projects and current reads here. I would love for you to join me each month and share what you are knitting (or crocheting) and reading too! Post your photo(s) on your blog or on Instagram (#yarnalong) and then share a link below to either your blog or Instagram post!~ (this post contains affiliate links.)
I’ve only read the forward to Julie Bogart’s new book, The Brave Learner, but I’m already excited. Julie is a seasoned homeschooler who is inspiring while remaining practical and realistic. I’ve been homeschooling for almost twelve years, and my oldest child will graduate this spring and begin college in the fall. I’m burned out and need some fresh perspective. I think this book might be just what I need!
I’ve been knitting a little each night on my wild rabbit. It’s not too difficult (probably intermediate skill level required), but requires full attention, and is a little bit more fiddly than my typical project choice. That being said, I am really enjoying it. The pattern is so clever, and I am excited to see how my rabbit turns out! My original intent was to give it to Larkspur for her birthday next month because she has lamented the fact that she doesn’t have any knitted animals. (Only a knitter’s daughter would come up with such a complaint!) However, Mabel keeps insisting it’s hers, telling me that it “fits her,” while trying to put it on her head. I think it must remind her of the doe cap I knit for her when she was a baby. I’m not sure who will be the recipient at this point. I did buy a skein of yarn to knit Larkspur a new hat, and might set the rabbit aside to work on that for now.

I’ve always wanted to knit an animal and even took a class to learn but found it way to fiddly for my larger hands. I’m so impressed at how you find time to knit with all the other things you do. You are a marvel!!!

What a lovely little rabbit! I believe if I could knit I would start one right now.
I love your blog and your photography. I usually check it in the evenings after a very full day. Your writing and your photos are always so calming……just what I need! Blessings to you and your family!!

That rabbit is turning out splendidly! I only know how to knit flat things (aka disclothes) so am completely in awe.

So glad to hear about The Brave Learner. Thank you for telling about it on your blog. After 15 years of homeschooling 8 children, I am feeling burned out, and riddled with doubt. Even after ‘peeking’ inside the book on Amazon, I’ve got a do-able idea I can run with (the art table). (Oh, and I’m ordering it, too.) God bless you and yours!

Oooo, no, give it to Larkspur! She will be so very happy to have a knitted animal. And Mabel is young enough for you to make her one. I think it would make a lovely bd present.

That looks like a real baby bunny! It would fit right in up north here in Wisconsin, your yarn colors are absolutely perfect. No wonder the girls are fighting over it.
