I’m updating my shop today at 1.p.m. ET, a little later than usual for you west coast friends. 🙂
I don’t think I’ve ever put quite so much work into a shop update! I have loved delving into natural dyeing of organic cotton, and I hope that you love what I’ve made. I’m a little anxious to be launching these new things. I am always so nervous on shop update days!
First-I made some small changes to the head scarves. My last batch was a sort of trial run and I was really winging it. I’ve tweaked them to be closer to a perfect square in shape and I ironed them flat this time as well, though that fabric wants to crinkle with or without the attention of an iron. I just wanted to mention this because if you bought one last time and order again from this update, these will seem to be a bit larger, partly because they are a little larger, and also because the ironing stretches and smooths them to larger dimensions.
One new addition this month is full sized scarves. I LOVE these. They are really large, but the fabric is so lightweight that you can wrap them around your neck without feeling heavily bundled. They are the perfect weight for fall, or for warmer climates. There aren’t many this month, but if you like them, I’ll hopefully be able to make more. They can be machine washed and dried, but the fabric is so light that I would recommend that you treat them like delicates.
A few weeks ago I posted a photo in my instagram stories of a swaddle blanket I made and dyed with indigo for a friend’s new baby. I received quite a few messages asking me if I would be listing some in my shop. At the time it wasn’t my plan to do so. That particular blanket would be expensive for me to make and sell, though I am considering doing so in the future. The double gauze I sewed it from is really lovely, and I felt really good about that baby gift! For now, I found some organic cotton swaddles already made, and I dyed them with natural dyes. They are a nice size, 36″ by 36″, Â and would make a lovely swaddle blanket for a baby or even a lovey for an older child. I’ll be listing a limited number of them in my shop today.
I don’t have much yarn to list, but I am planning for a big update next month with a very special yarn that I haven’t offered before. If you are hoping for yarn in one of my regular bases, get it today, because I won’t have more until October at the earliest. What I do have plenty of this month is goat’s milk soap! I have lemongrass, lavender patchouli, and a new one for those who like a more woodsy or masculine scent called Cedar Woods. If you like cedar, it’s the soap for you. If you don’t–it’s not!
Okay, I think that covers everything. Now I am off to have an informal first day of school with my younger kids. New books arrived yesterday and they are ready, so never mind that it’s Thursday, not a traditional “first day” of anything that I can think of.
Thanks, friends, for supporting my work, and in turn, my family. I appreciate that so much, more than I can say.

How on earth do you find time for all of this…

I didn’t read the preceding post because of the snake warning. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
I was the person years ago who asked if there was some way readers might be forewarned about such images, and you were so gracious in instituting the *** system. Thank you again for your sensitivity to those of us with such a crazy phobia.

In my neck of the woods, the first day of public school is typically on a Thursday so it seems pretty normal to me! 🙂 Hope it’s a good one.
