Or rather, almost Midsummer…
I knit the sweetest little sweater for Mabel last week. It’s called the Fairy Dust Cardigan, and I knit the size 1 year. Using two skeins of my sport weight wool, I could have knit long sleeves, but opted for short. That made for a super quick knit and Mabel will be able to wear it this fall. I just need to pick out some buttons. I love it so much that I want to knit another, maybe in some of my olive green goldenrod dyed yarn. There will be several pairs of naturally dyed sport weight skeins in our shop update, heavily inspired by this cardigan. I also have a handful of the natural grey skeins. You can knit up to the size 2 with just two skeins.
Jonny was able to make some of his rustic red oak cutting boards for this update, and I have goat’s milk soap that I will be listing as well. We won’t be listing quite so much as usual, but I’m pleased that we were able to squeeze in some creativity amongst all the work associated with selling our old house.
Our oldest son, Seth, has listed a bunch of his hand turned candlesticks in his shop and he also has some keyed fossil sets available right now. If you order from both of our shops and leave us a note, we will combine your orders and refund the extra shipping!
The update will go live at 2 p.m. ET on Tuesday, August 1st. I’ll close up the shop by mid-afternoon on Thursday, August 3rd so that I can focus on packaging up orders and getting them out the door, hopefully before the weekend.

Hi Ginny, I am a beginner knitter, how long does it take to knit this little cardigan? I’m ready to try something other than hats lol.. thank you! This little cardigan is simply adorable!
Ginny says
Not too long at all! Especially if you opt for short sleeves. 🙂
Latista says
Thank you! I will give it a try (:

I didn’t see anything listed by Jonny in your shop. Have they all gone already?
Nina says
The shop update is at 2 pm : D
Richard (in Charlotte, NC) says
Thank you Nina; I thought that they might be shown prior to being put up for sale at 2p.m. I will be taking my 90-year old Dad to his Dr. appointment at that time.
Nina says
Yes, once items are ‘posted’ in a shop, they are available immediately for sale. Etsy should have some sort of preview option but they don’t!
I will be at the lake with my daughter at 2 pm, so I think I will miss out on the yarn this time around. Wishing for good health for your father, and you. : )
Richard (in Charlotte, NC) says
Yes, I agree that there should be a preview time before a sale gets under way.
Thank you for the well wishes; I hope you have a wonderful time at the lake with your daughter!

Have you ever made knitted buttons? I make them so that they match what I’m making, they end up as little knitted balls or you can cover a button you have with a knitted circle, sewn round the edge, gathered and caught at the back.

Everything looks lovely as usual. What is the children’s book that you are reading in photo number 3?
