I feel like I have a million things to tell you, which calls for a bulleted post!
-I’m at that stage with a busy, walking baby that makes it difficult to do much knitting, but I’ve been trying to work at least a couple of rows on my Find Your Fade Shawl everyday. I’ve also been reading, which is a bit easier because I can do it while Mabel nurses. I finally read The Awakening of Miss Prim, and while I enjoyed it, I would have preferred that there had been a bit more completion to the story. I’m reading A Gentleman in Moscow now, and I like it. It’s not a fast paced story, at least not yet and I’m about a third of the way through, but it’s very good. I’m also reading Anne of Green Gables right now, aloud to my girls. I only first read it myself a few years ago (I know, I’m way behind!) and I am enjoying it so much more this time around. I think it’s better as a read aloud, and I love sharing it with my girls. I plan to read through the whole series this time. I’ve also been watching a little of the new Netflix series, Anne with an E. I like the show just fine as long as I don’t compare it to the book too much. I only halfway watch shows anyway, just to have something to watch while I knit. I don’t like too much action or complex stories, and definitely nothing racy or inappropriate. Anne with an E fits the bill. (edited to add: I’m 3 or 4 episodes in now and shaking my head at some of the unnecessary and unpleasant changes they have made to the story.)
-We listed our old house “for sale by owner,” a little over a week ago and it is under contract now. I’m nervous to share too many details, but if all goes well, I will be able to introduce you to the new owners by the end of summer! I am not sure that I ever properly shared the finished triple bunks. We didn’t get everything finished until we moved out. Isn’t that the way it goes? I included some photos of the house here so you can see both it and the bunks!
-I had a very encouraging doctor’s appointment last week. As I shared earlier this year, I was diagnosed with Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis in January. Since then I have made some pretty major diet and lifestyle changes and it seems that it’s working! My antibodies are way down from what they were and my doctor thinks that I am on the road to going off my medication sometime in the near-ish future. I’m still struggling with adrenal fatigue and some gut issues, but am very pleased with how far I’ve come. Based on the comments that I received on that original post, I suspect that some of you might be interested to learn more about what I have done specifically to heal. I’ll share details very soon. We are absolutely swamped with final work at our old house, and just day to day living right now. Sweet Mabel is under the weather as well, so that is definitely slowing us down. Of course, slowing down is one of the very things I have worked to do over these past six months. It’s a tricky business, slowing down while raising a family, isn’t it?
-Please check back on Saturday because I have a lovely and unique fundraiser and giveaway planned. There’ll be a chance to win some of our own honey and a few other fun things!
p.s. There is still yarn in the shop!

I was diagnosed with Lupus a year ago, and I’ve also got all of my markers down through diet. It’s tough, but I’m so happy for you. These past few months I’ve added intermittent fasting, to my keto diet, and it’s like I don’t even have it at all, anymore!!
And yay, on the house contract!!

I was diagnosed with Hashi’s about one year ago. Adrenal too though I suspect I’ve been battling it since I began having babies. Glad to hear you are feeling better!

That picture of your girls snuggling is incredibly precious ? I’m so glad you’re doing better! And also, I love love your shawl. Can’t wait to see when it’s completed! Hope Mabel recovers quickly.

Wow, I love what you did to your old house…just beautiful. Jonny did an outstanding job on all the trim, bunks, floor, shelves. I just love it! I heard from my daughter that I received my goodies I ordered from you. Can’t wait to see them. I’m glad you are doing so much better. Thank you for always being an inspiration to us!

Would also love to hear about the hashimoto’s lifestyle changes! Glad you are feeling better.

I started the Anne series when my youngest was a baby. She was the only one of my four who wasn’t distracted from nursing by a book in my hand. I read all of Lucy Maude Montgomery’s while nursing. My daughter was a late talker, but by the time she could toddle she let me know she was hungry by throwing a book towards the couch. I am getting a lot of reading done these days because after spending all day caring for my 14-month-old granddaughter I am too tired for anything else. Glad to hear the sacrifices of the restricted diet are laying off.

I watched about 15 minutes of the new Anne series and just couldn’t do it…it was nothing compared to the books and of course, the 80’s television version with Megan Follows! Sometimes I question the need Hollywood/television people have to take a perfectly wonderful story and make it darker and more “gritty” just for the shock value. I do hope your girls enjoy the book. It is truly a wonderful series. Good luck on selling your home. I look forward to hearing more.

So glad you are feeling better. I have a friend who was diagnosed with the same diagnoses as you at almost the same time, and like you, she is doing a major overhaul of her diet and such and feeling so much better. Such wonderful news you are feeling better. This shows the resiliency of our bodies. Keeping fingers crossed on sale of house.

Just love reading your blog and seeing your lovely photography! Another nice Netflix show is When Calls The Heart. There are several seasons and it’s great to knit to– so relaxing and happy.

Hoping for continued good health and peace of mind for you. I just looked up the quite sappy comment I left after reading your post that included the fawn story and leaving a home. I mentioned the emotions and hopes around selling our family home. We received an offer less than 24 hours of listing, which included a letter that nearly repeated my exact words. I know that letters often come with offers in a busy market, but to have put my words out into the universe and come back so perfectly was quite a blessing indeed. Thank you, Thank you for continuing to share your story with us. Some how connecting our desire to just make our way the best way we can.

All Lucy Maud Montgomery’s books are lovely. I read them first when was a teenager ….I am now 91yrs and still enjoy all of them. They are delightful, wholesome and a breath of fresh air…Anne of Green Gables is the first one to read of course. I wish i could listen in to you reading them to your lovely girls.Vera in the UK.

I am about to start Jane of Lantern Hill on my own. 🙂

Don’t forget the Emily series. Not as upbeat Anne and a bit darker, but a good adult read. I love the Anne books, but my husband says of irrepressible Anne, “Someone, please suppress her!” I guess she’s a little too precocious for him. Which is fine; I don’t expect his reading tastes to be the same as mine on everything. It’s enough that we both are Tolkien fans.

So glad you are enjoying A Gentleman in Moscow, I hope you can take your time and savor it…I just loved it and want to read it again! Hope your health continues to improve!

Lovely photos – fun update! Keep us posted on your current read – I know what you mean about Miss Prim, but I was so excited to read an inoffensive recently published book I overlooked it. ?

Anne of Green Gables (1985) with Megan Follows!!!! You will love it.
Ali says
Agree! One of my favorite things ever!
Ginny says
We own that one! I haven’t watched it in years though, don’t have a good way to watch dvds right now…

Please do share about the Hashimoto’s journey and what is helping. My 14 year old son is currently being tested for that and lupus and his doc wants me tested too. We have CMT so they think there is also a link. Poor boy had huge spinal surgery two years ago and it seemed to trigger autoimmune problems. He’s such a trouper though and never complains — well too exhausted to complain:(
Kelsey says
I was never officially diagnosed with Hashimoto’s but my antibodies we off the chart. Literally. I took out gluten and dairy and worked with supplements and it has gone down to *almost* normal levels! I think you are on the right path!

those triple bunks are great! will say a prayer for the house being sold! That will be a big milestone! Hope Mabel feels better soon!!! God BLESS you all!!!
Eileen says
WOW, you did have a lot of news. Glad to hear you are feeling better, sorry to hear Mabel is under the weather. The picture of Bea and Mabel is precious! Your old house looks great, Johnny is really good at being a wood worker and handy man! I will keep my fingers crossed that the contract goes through without a hitch. I know what you mean about busy with a walking one year old. We take care of granddaughter everyday for six hours and nothing to very little gets done during those hours. It’s OK though, this time goes so fast! And she is so cute!
Melissa Nichols says
Good to see the finished bunks, I always wondered about those. And I share the frustration of finishing things up for someone else to enjoy, somehow it’s not fair ;o) Congrats on your contract, I am there with you. We close in 4 weeks!! I am terrified and excited.
Ginny says
We will have the benefit of being neighbors to the people who are buying our house, so it feels like we’re doing all the work for new friends! Your house looks great, btw!
Heather says
Our family has watched the “Anne of Green Gables” and “Anne of Avonlea” that aired in the 1980s sooooooo many times! We LOVE IT!! We tried watching the new version that is now on Netflix and it is so much darker than the 80s series with Megan Follows as Anne. I think we only made it 15 minutes into the new version! Please try the older version, too! 🙂
Ginny says
We own the older version, and it is definitely superior! I know what you mean about the darkness in the new series. Anne seems to be suffering from PTSD… We’ll see how it goes!

I would be interested in hearing how you’ve improved your antibodies. Mine was at 245 when I found out I had it and I’ve worked on GF and leaky gut for the past 3 years and last year I only saw it drop 3 points. I do have my bloodwork scheduled for this month but actually have felt worse lately. So I’m happy for you if you’ve found improvement. I’m beginning to think I have another root cause I’ve not addressed. I also agree on the Awakenimg of Ms Prim book. I was disappointed in the ending but was hopeful with all her different characters that perhaps she might write a sequel. I can hope anyway. Congrats on the possible sell of your old home. ?
Kate says
Yay! on house offers! Bigger YAY! on feeling better! And please share the details of you autoimmune healing journey…I need those!
Love,
Kate Talley

Wow! Your triple bunks are WAY nicer than the ones hubby and I made!!
