~ Two of my favorite things are knitting and reading and I love sharing my projects and current reads here. I would love for you to join me every Wednesday to share a single photo of what you are knitting (or crocheting) and reading too! Share your photo on your blog, on Instagram (#yarnalong), or on Flickr. Leave a link below to share your photo with the rest of us!~
I’ve been working on my Violet Bonnet this week. It’s nice to have a small project going right now with a quick finish in sight. I started reading The Winthrop Woman, but haven’t made it far at all. I typically spend a lot of time reading in my early postpartum days while resting in the bed with a baby. But this time around I found that I couldn’t lie down in bed because it really hurt my incision to get back up! So I’ve been sleeping in a reclining chair and haven’t been doing much reading because it’s hard to hold both the book (it’s a thick one) and the baby while upright. That should change in the next few days as I try to transition back to the bed, and I am really looking forward to this book!

My 1st c-section found me sleeping on our loveseat because I could use the back to push myself up. I slept there for probably a week before I was able to handle the bed. The 2nd time around, I knew what I was getting into and I was actually able to sleep in the bed from the beginning, which was fabulous. I didn’t want to do much, though, either time.

I love the yarn you are using for the bonnet. It reminds me of Downton Abbey. I was going to work on that pattern, but got sidetracked with knitting the Bankhead hat for my son in law and granddaughter. Have you ever listened to and watched the Bakery Bears podcasts? They are great. I love the part where they travel to different castles/sites in England and discuss the history of the buildings. I would think it would be great lessons for your children you homeschool. And of course they talk about knitting, which I love. So glad you are doing well. I knew you would. Enjoy the rest of the week.

Ah. One of my favourite books: I am sure you will enjoy it. Did they teach you to roll onto your side and push up from the bed with the uppermost hand ? I am sure they did. Your baby looks so very pretty. I believe you with the smiling as one of my daughters did the same – even the nurses commented on it. Enjoy these early hazy special days Ginny. Much love, Adele xxx

I am one of your newest readers having found you from reading Posie’s blog. Your new daughter is gorgeous. After a week of multiple international tragedies, it was so refreshing to see the joy, happiness and hope for the future that a precious baby brings to our lives.
I am enjoying reading past postings and have to say that you have re-kindled my interest in crocheting and knitting. I am self-taught for both and I can already see that there is a mountain of experience and inspiration on Yarn Along! 🙂
Once again, congratulations and sending healing thoughts your way.

The incision pain gets lighter every day. By the time 6 weeks comes along when they tell you that you can drive again, you’ll be chomping at the bits to drive because you will swear you feel just fine!
Enjoy your new sweet baby.
**BTW, I’m watching my friends son Larkin right now. I always think of him when I read your daughter’s name Larkspur…. Both names are lovely.

I love that pattern and have been drooling over it. I hope your incision heals quickly and with no complications- that soon you will feel more comfort and be able to sleep well and read more!

Once again congratulations. Do not do too much, you do not want an infection. I love the book you are reading now, it is ages since I read it and it’s time I re read it. xx

Ouch Yes that incission does hurt for a while ( about 2 weeks for me). I found if I roll over onto all 4’s and then back off the bed it helps a little.

Pillows were my best friend after each of my C-Sections. Protects your incision from being accidentally bumped and helps elevate baby for nursing and propping up a book.
