~ Two of my favorite things are knitting and reading and I love sharing my projects and current reads here. I would love for you to join me every Wednesday to share a single photo of what you are knitting (or crocheting) and reading too! Share your photo on your blog, on Instagram (#yarnalong), or on Flickr. Leave a link below to share your photo with the rest of us!~
I’m about halfway now on that second sleeve, so getting close! I finished reading A Lantern in Her Hand over the weekend, and loved it. It made me cry though! Kind of funny since I started reading it as a replacement for another book that was making me cry. Maybe I’m just going through a teary phase.
The last few days have been focused on Christmas preparations, and as far as reading goes, homemade candy plans. I’m going to make some of the Christmas candy recipes from The New England Butt’ry Shelf Cookbook: Receipts for Very Special Occasions.
If you are making Christmas gifts, I hope that you are almost finished and won’t have to stay up all night knitting tonight!!!

Just finished my one and only Christmas knit last night. I waited and waited for the yarn I ordered from Knitpicks (their distribution center is 30 minutes away), but gave up and used some stash to start over the weekend. The yarn arrived Monday — eight days to travel 30 minutes. Darned shipping systems! I ended up using some of the pokeberry I bought from your shop — it’s the stripes in my gray Lorne hat for my niece’s boyfriend. It turned out great. Will share next week. I hope you have time to finish up your sweater during the Twelve Days — I plan to start something new and relaxing.
PS ’tis the season for weepiness! You’re not alone.

“A Lantern in Her Hand” made me cry too! So much so that my husband was greatly alarmed, and could not believe that it was caused by reading a book. : )
May you and your family have a very blessed Christmas!

I had a feeling you would cry. It’s a good crying kind of book though. I am done with the frantic knitting and now I’m doing the leisure knitting. The house is full, my daughter and son in law are visiting from CA for the week and my son is home from Boston. I am one mighty happy mom 🙂
Yes the mess is here and I’m not bothered by it one bit (yet). December 26 my skin will be itching to tidy and clean and have wide opened spaces.
Merry Christmas, Ginny! may you and your family have a blessed celebration together.
