~ Two of my favorite things are knitting and reading and I love sharing my projects and current reads here. I would love for you to join me every Wednesday to share a single photo of what you are knitting (or crocheting) and reading too! Share your photo on your blog, on Instagram (#yarnalong), or on Flickr. Leave a link below to share your photo with the rest of us!~
That is sleeve number two on the needles! So, I did make some progress on my barn sweater this week.
I had to put aside The Reed of God, because the chapter discussing death made me cry, like soak my pillow at bedtime cry. I’m sure the rest of the book will be less upsetting, and I will return to it soon. I checked out A Lantern in Her Hand from the library after one of you recommended it, and was planning to save it for January, but I started reading it early in an effort to recover. Of course I like it, it’s about pioneers. I also received my copy of Susan B. Anderson’s Kids’ Knitting Workshop after pre-ordering it weeks ago. I have to say it’s my favorite kids’ knitting book yet! If you have a child wanting to learn, I think this is the book to buy! It is meant to teach you how to knit, and it contains projects in order of increasing difficulty. Jonny picked it up and said that it made him want to start knitting again!

By the way, your barn sweater looks so beautiful in that picture. I will definitely get that knitting book as my granddaughters are wanting to knit as well.

I just received her knitting book in my store yesterday. I am a beginner knitter that has purchased some of your yarn (once on my birthday two days ago). I am excited for the instruction in this book. It is funny to see it here so soon after I devoured it.

Since I am having soooooo much trouble with my knitting maybe I should buy that book for myself!

The lighting is amazing in this picture! Would you recommend the book to someone who has zero experience in knitting? I haven’t even watched someone knit.

Ginny,
Would you recommend this book for adults who long to learn to knit, but are too intimidated by, well…, learning to knit?
Merry Christmas to you and your beautiful family,
Becky

How timely! The last few books I’ve read have been downers, and I was looking for something with hope and sunshine for my soul. Pioneering genre is a plus, too. And! I could use a children’s knitting book for myself haha. Thanks for hosting, always.

A Lantern in Her Hand. I did read that years ago. I love pioneer books, too. Your barn sweater is looking gorgeous! Hooray!

I LOVED that book as a teen, it made a lasting impression on me. I might have to read that again for 2016!! I do not like books that make me depressed. I like to be sad in a good way, not in a hysterical way…
