Yarn Along

~ Two of my favorite things are knitting and reading and I love sharing my projects and current reads here. I would love for you to join me every Wednesday to share a single photo of what you are knitting (or crocheting) and reading too! Share your photo on your blog, on Instagram (#yarnalong), or on Flickr. Leave a link below to share your photo with the rest of us!~

I am so close to finishing the body of my Barn Sweater!  I wish I had more time to work on it.

I kind of spaced out a few days ago and forgot that I was reading No Life for a Lady.  It was late, and I was in the mood for Wallace Stegner.  I remembered that I bought a copy of The Big Rock Candy Mountain many months ago so I pulled it off the shelf and started reading it.  Stegner is becoming a favorite author of mine, alongside Willa Cather.  There is something soothing to me about both his and her writing styles.

I don’t know Wallace Stegner but I, too, love Willa Cather. I will have to see about him. I’m hoping to get to those comfrey leaves soon. Maybe I should pick them before the frost this weekend.

I like the sound of The Big Rock Candy Mountain (didn’t Burl Ives sing about it once?). I’m going to try and order it from my library and I love the look of your Barn Sweater. Thank you, Ginny for allowing me to join in again with your Yarnalong.

Willa Cather is such an interesting writer. I read her books and think, ” there’s no plot, there’s not antagonist…” but I can’t put the book down. I don’t know how she does it. But she does. 🙂

Hi Ginny! I’m looking forward to your finished barn sweater as I’ve had my eye on that for awhile. I have all the wool to spin up from my own flock of sheep, but have to get at ‘er…
Wishing you a lovely autumn day!

I love Willa Cather, too. I had a librarian friend who did extensive work with Wallace Stegner. Now I am wracking my brain trying to remember more about all that.
Your sweater is looking really good, Ginny!
