With the cooler weather, my kids have been working on their tree houses again. I remembered these photos that I took back in April but never shared here. There are three scrap wood tree houses now. I’ll have to take some new ones so you can see the progress they’ve made on their ramshackle village in the trees.

Oh Ginny, this made me laugh! We have several scrap wood tree houses that the kids have built in our woods, my husband calls them their “shanty town”!

The closing “ramshackled village in the trees” comment with the suggested post below about Robin Hood and Little John makes me think of the trilogy by Lawhead – particularly Hood and his catwalks thru the trees 🙂

I always wanted a tree house! When we have our own place and are not renting anymore, my husband really wants to build a tree house or play house for our children. 🙂

Trees and exploring and forts and building are so much fun!

I know these a photos from the spring but there is something about them that reminds me so much of the woods surrounding our house in Oregon in the autumn time. Oh these make me miss it more! I know you would understand the need to be surrounded by trees <3

I love reading your blog, you have a wonderful way with words and with the camera ?. In each of the pictures of the kiddos, they individually seem to have a “dream” ? going on in their head. Probably implanting the memory of this wonderful moment in their mind. Keep inspiring us.

These tree houses remind me of the book, Andrew Henry’s Meadow! Have you read it? It’s one of our all-time favorites, and the illustrations are really beautiful.
Linda says
That is the best book ever!!

I agree! We have my grandma’s old copy and love it!

That is exactly what this post made me think of too! And also “We Were Tired of Living in A House” which is illustrated by Doris Burns.

Ooh look at all of those buds on the trees! I adore autumn (sorry, Fall!) but am looking forward to spring already, when everything is fresh and green.
