~ Two of my favorite things are knitting and reading and I love sharing my projects and current reads here. I would love for you to join me every Wednesday to share a single photo of what you are knitting (or crocheting) and reading too! Share your photo on your blog, on Instagram (#yarnalong), or on Flickr. Leave a link below to share your photo with the rest of us! ~
I worked on my Barn Sweater far more than I expected to this week, and I sure do have sore forearms! I am almost finished with the raglan increases and have just joined my second skein of yarn. The instructions for the yoke were a little mind blowing to me and it took me an evening, followed by another morning of puzzling to figure out what turned out to be surprisingly simple. If you’ve knit this sweater, you might know what I’m talking about, the whole increases and buttonhole rows written separately, but knit simultaneously thing. Now that I have that figured out, I think that the rest of the sweater should be straightforward.
I’m a little more than halfway through Counting by 7s, and everyone who recommended it was right! It’s a great story. I think I am on track to finish it up just in time for the highly anticipated release of Harper Lee’s Go Set a Watchman next week! I pre-ordered it months ago, and can’t wait!

SO glad to see I’m not the only one who got flummoxed by the buttonhole and all that! I thought it was just a result of being sick, but no, it was just..well, slightly confusingly worded it seems. Whew!
I love the yellow you chose! Part of me almost regrets choosing the grey that I did – but I wanted it to be a good goes-with-everything utilitarian type piece. Now though…I’m considering an embroidery embellishment once its all done, to sort of liven it up a little bit.

Hi Ginny,
I’m pretty sure there is an errata page online if you are knitting this from the Taproot magazine pattern. You probably already know this but I thought i’d mention it just in case.
Great looking sweater! Enjoy your trip!

For some reason I can’t get the linky thing to work. It won’t add my site. SO, I’ll just post the link here in the comments until I can get my computer to work with it. Can’t wait to see your sweater.!

I followed the links to an actually picture of what you’re making. What a great looking sweater that is. And the color of the yarn is yummy!

I really, really like that yellow for the sweater! It’s the perfect shade of yellow. If I ever knit that pattern, I’ll know who to ask if I get stuck. 🙂 I’m sewing on some buttons so I’ll have a finished knitted headband for myself very soon. Not that I’ll need it for quite a few months.

I just love the color. I’ve never knitted a sweater. I hope to change that very soon. Yours is going to be absolutely beautifull.

Some nights I just can’t grasp what in the world a pattern is trying to tell me. The light of dawn does tend to help!

I said it last week and I’ll say it again: I love your yarn color! It is knitting up so prettily in a rich hue. I always heed what books you loved so I can consider them. Thanks for hosting something that has been a light for me for over two years now.

Oh I just love how that yarn is knitting up…so pretty! I’ve decided to wait on the barn sweater until I increase my skill level. Alicia Paulson was talking about her Ramona cardigan and I think it would be easier for me to work. I’d really like to make it for one of my granddaughters and thought about using a smaller needle and no chunky yarn to see if it could come out ok. I like doing smaller versions since I’m a slow knitter. I made knitted shawls for my granddaughter’s 18 inch dolls using a normal pattern, but using sock yarn. They came out adorable. I finally finished my shawl using the Hole and Sons yarn in fog. I just have to block it now. Thanks Ginny for talking about that one and getting me interested. It was a perfect pattern for me. Enjoy the rest of your week!

I agree with Tracey-gotta look at that pattern. I love the color (as you know) and I am eager to start another sweater since I’m done to one project (the never ending sock scrap blanket). We have the wedding in a few weeks and after that I will have oodles of time to spend expanding my projects on the needles.

Now you have me curious about the Barn Sweater pattern so I will be pulling my copy from the shelf to see what is going on.
I am kind of excited about Ms. Lee’s book too!
