~ Two of my favorite things are knitting and reading (though not at the same time!), and the evidence of this often shows up in my photographs. I love seeing what other people are knitting and reading as well. So, what are you knitting or crocheting right now? What are you reading? Take a photo and share it either on your blog or on Flickr. Leave a link below to share your photo with the rest of us! ~
I’ve been knitting hats these past couple of weeks, attempting to design one to go with my Sunday Sweater pattern. I think I finally have it! I’ll get some good pictures soon to share with you all, and you can tell me what you think. I am excited about this hat, and wonder why I didn’t do this sooner. The green yarn is the same that I used for the Claret Cowl that I knit recently. I really love that colorway (Malabrigo Arroyo in Fresco Y Seco)!
I finished reading So Big. I really liked it and I think there are elements of the story that I will always carry with me, though the ending is a little frustrating. My book club is going to discuss it this month, and I’m so glad! I started reading Evelyn Waugh’s biography of Edmund Campion this week, and while I found that I really liked his writing style and the element of suspense that I felt the story had from the start, I decided to stick with the Happy List for now. Edmund Campion died an awful death, and maybe I am not in the mood to read about that right now! I picked up Willa Cather’s Shadows on the Rock instead, a good safe choice, and one I’ve been wanting to read.

Another Cather fan, wonderful! So few people here in the UK read her that I get really excited when I meet another one.
Thank you for starting this; I shall join in from next week. 🙂

I finished So Big this morning. I think parts of that story will stay with me always as well. What lovely descriptions. It re-inspired me to look for beauty everywhere. Thank you so much for sharing your happy list. Poor Dirk.

i don’t aspire to sweaters larger than oh, a few days newborn, but man if I did, I’d totally be getting your pattern off Ravelry!!! But… hats are totally my speed too 😉

My husband bought me knitting needles and yarn for my birthday and oh my god, I love it!! I don’t know what took me so long to jump on the bandwagon since I read your blog all the time and am always jealous of your knitting projects. I think I was just too intimidated. I hope to participate in the link-up someday! Love love love it!

Thanks for the happy list and I’ve already passed it on to my daughter.

I love Shadows on the Rock. I wrote my senior thesis on Death Comes for the Archbishop, which is an amazing book, but I think Shadows is my favorite. Perfect for wintertime reading. Enjoy it!

I look forward to seeing the hats – it’s such a lovely sweater!
I’m hoping to read through a few new books from your Happy List, although a few of the books listed have brought tears to my eyes (the older I get the less I can manage sad books and crying comes more easily).

ugh! I can’t believe it’s Wednesday already! 🙂 Love the color you are using. Very nice.

Is it just me or does everyone’s project seem absolutely beautiful this week!
Inspires me to finish the projects I have on the needles that are using up boring old stash yarn and dig into some beautiful new hand-dyed I bought over the weekend. 🙂

how nice about the hat pattern! :))) I need to read more Cather; she is wonderful. You are still in our prayers.

Ginny, I thought I had purchased the Sunday Sweater before, but since I’m not very organized…I didn’t want to get your new hat pattern and not be able to find the Sunday Sweater pattern…so I just purchased it. Will the hat pattern have the same size options as the sweater? I love how you’ve detailed everything. I’m one of those individuals that need everything spelled out. Thank you for bringing such joy into my life!
Ginny says
Hi Gwendolyn, thank you!! The hat pattern will be sized a little differently because hat patterns just are. But, there will be sizes from baby to adult. I think that it will be pretty easy to figure out what size to knit with which size of sweater, and I’ll do my best to spell it out!!

Shadows on the Rock is one of my all-time favorite books. Cather is from my home state (Nebraska) so I’ve read a ton of her works, and it’s my favorite out of all of them, although it’s mostly under-appreciated. (It’s one of her shorter ones, too, which can help!)
Camilla says
I love that yarn- so very pretty….and that sweater- swoon.
Does the pattern come in adult size?
Ginny says
maybe someday!
Camilla says
…I’ll wait patiently 🙂

Beautiful green, I can’t wait to see the finished hat!

I just queued your Sunday sweater last night. Perfect for a little February birthday gal. Now a hat to go with it would be so darling! Love your new book list.

Ginny 6 months ago today – need I say more?
Ginny says
No, of course not. All day yesterday, I kept thinking that same thing about today. 🙁 I miss her so much.

Can’t wait to see the hat. Thank you for the happy list. Somehow I missed this last time and I need a happy book!

How perfect, a hat to go with your pretty sweater, I can’t wait to knit one for Emerson. If you need a test knitter I’m in! 🙂
