Yarn Along

~ Two of my favorite things are knitting and reading (though not at the same time!), and the evidence of this often shows up in my photographs. I love seeing what other people are knitting and reading as well. So, what are you knitting or crocheting right now? What are you reading? Take a photo and share it either on your blog or on Flickr. Leave a link below to share your photo with the rest of us! ~

DSC_9863This week I’ve needed back and forth easy knitting, so I’ve been working on Larkspur’s Leksak.  I’m just a few rows away from dividing for the sleeves.  I love simple projects like this!  I can work on most parts during the day while I work on lessons with my kids, and save things like dividing for sleeves or picking up stitches for after everyone is in bed.

I’m reading Lopez Lomong’s book, Running for My Life.  Lopez shares his story of going from Lost Boy to runner for the U.S. Olympic track team. He is very inspiring, and I highly recommend his book!

I loved knitting the Leksak. I need to start a hat for my husband. It was his Christmas gift last year. Ha!

Last year my husband developed the first independent online news outlet in South Sudan. Exciting!

I need some mindless knitting. Between Stormageddon’s early arrival (three weeks early, mind) and Little Man’s sibling jealousy and trying to find our new normal…..I want to knit but I know I can’t concentrate on patterns that require charts and such right now. ::sigh:: Perhaps I should go back to my basic sock…Lord knows I have enough sock yarn!

I had 2 ‘Lost Boys’ work for me a few years ago. The stories they told were horrific! One even had scar from being shot!

Love your knitting. The colours for your leksaks have all been just fabulous. Can’t wait to start one for my own!

My current knit is also a cardi; I love the simplicity of knowing a pattern and the ability to knit the easier parts during the school day while putting off those parts needing more attention until later in the day when all is quiet. We’re doing lots of read alouds this year which will make for lots of knitting time for me. 🙂 Even though my kiddos are older (16 & 14), we still read aloud or have them read aloud to us. Family story time is the best! And it’s a great way to teach them purposeful multi-tasking such as knitting while reading/being read to! Happy Wednesday to you, Ginny! 🙂 ~Lisa

    Thanks for hosting this.
I wasn’t able to link again though – someday high speed will make its way to our little corner of the world.

I have a couple of projects with nice neat, even rows of knitting right now. Calming knitting. Happy knitting. 🙂

I love cardigans and sweaters that allow you to knit all day and do more serious work on it after the littles are in bed. My current project has been running that way as well, and it feels like it is going by so quickly.

I am all for easy projects as well, I like how I can half focus and do something else while knitting 🙂
