Admitting that you are burned out can be hard, but many of us face it, some of us on a yearly basis (or more). For me, burn out usually happens late February or early March (hey, that’s right now!) and then revisits in the late fall. So what do you do with that? I typically just put one foot in front of the other and keep moving forward as best I can, although I often find myself crying in the bathroom until it passes. My friend Elizabeth Foss has battled burnout as well, and she has created a workshop to help those of us who are suffering, recover joy. I know it’s going to be good, because I’ve spent many an hour in discussion with Elizabeth. As my friend, she has held my hand through some of my hardest times. She’s one of those friends who always seems to know the right thing to say. Her words have turned my panic into peace on more than one occasion. It’s no small gift that Elizabeth has poured herself and her wisdom, the kind that has grown through life experience, into this workshop.
“The Restore Workshop is a six week online course geared towards adult women who have struggled or are struggling with or want to avoid burnout. It is for any woman who wants to nurture joy within her life and the lives of those around her.”
The workshop begins on March 16th and runs through April 26th. You can find more information on the Restore website. Elizabeth answers questions here. You can register here. If you look closely at the image above, you’ll see my name listed under the Monday podcast portion. Elizabeth and I will be discussing creativity and the use of this part of ourselves in battling burnout. This is a topic she and I have discussed many times, but I’ll admit, I’m pretty nervous about recording our conversation. I hope that by doing so, we’ll encourage others though, so I am going to give it my best.
Elizabeth is offering one Small Things reader a space in the workshop. If you are interested in winning, just mention so in your comment. Comments are closed and the winner is JennyAnn who commented,”What perfect timing this is. Thank you for this!!”
Thanks for offering this spot. I would love a chance.
Burnout seems to last longer for me than it used too. With 9 kids and homeschooling I could really use this workshop. Thanks for the opportunity.
This looks amazing. I would absolutely love to be a part of it. Thank you!
I would love to win this. I just had my seventh baby. Homeschooling and helping our son with special needs is tough. I would love to rediscover joy for me, my husband and our children. Thanks for sharing this. It’s encouraging to know I am not the only one.
What perfect timing! I just said to my husband that I am completely done in. Yes, please enter my name!
This workshop sounds amazing, and just what I (and many other mamas) need. Thanks so much for the chance to win!
I think I have been burnt out for longer than I care to remember. This would be a wonderful opportunity for restoration this Lent. Thank you for offering this!

thanks in advance and anyway thanks for the lovely articles every day, they make my day!!
congratulations in doing all you do!! I admire you!!!
I would very much like to win a spot in this workshop. I have struggled with finding time for myself and have just tried for 10 minutes a day. It usually ends up being reading blogs but I’d like to find different ways (so I don’t end up crying in the shower!) Thank you.
This looks great! I’d love a chance at a spot!
I would love to win a spot in the retreat. We’re beginning homeschool officially next year, and I feel so overwhelmed by the thought of it, hoping that I can be a good teacher, but knowing that teaching is not my greatest strength.
Ginny,
Thank you for this post. For the past three years after the birth of my fourth child, I have had burn out at the end of February. I feel like my body is on autopilot remembering some sort of seasonal cycle. Each time it comes, it feels horrible and I feel so guilty like I’ve done something wrong. I use prayer, love and mindfulness and know that this too shall pass.
I hope I winxx
I would love to win this workshop and find an alternative to putting one foot in front of the other
As a Mama to five, I find fatigue follows me. This would be a renewing treasure! Thanks for the chance.
I would love this! I really need to learn some better habits and better ways of thinking. This would be just dandy!
I think this is great idea, I’d love to be entered!
March 16 is my birthday. I think it’s a sign. Hehehe. But really I would love to win.
This sounds like such a wonderful workshop. I would say on a weekly basis I’d like to throw in the towel!
Yes! This would be perfect. Feeling so overwhelmed lately.
I would like to be entered.
I would like to win, please 🙂
What a perfect idea, sharing the wisdom of our lives.
Yes….I would love to win ( I never win anything!)… Thank you for the chance, and for encouraging all of us moms out there!
Would love a chance to restore!
I love you both. Please enter me.
I hope I win the spot!
As a mom to five young children. 2 of whom are adopted with special medical and emotional needs this sounds like a perfect opportunity for me.
I would love to win. I read about the workshop on Elizabeth’s blog and thought it sounded wonderful, but a little more than I can afford right now.
what a great opportunity! thanks for bringing this to all of us.
This sounds lovely, and perfect. I experience burn out, in varing degrees, about3 times a year. I’d love for a chance to win.
What a breath of fresh air this would be while I wait for the rejuvenation of Spring. Thank you, Ginny!
Thanks for this offer, I’d love to be entered for a chance to win a registration spot!
It’s been a long winter and this would be so nice.
I am pregnant with my third child at almost 40 and have some placenta issues which complicate matters. I am definitely feeling burned out lately! This course will finish 2 days before my scheduled C-Section which will be perfect. I would love to be calm and ready for this new life to join our family. Hope to win a spot!!
I would love a spot! My husband is leaving for a year long deployment soon and I’m feeling pretty burnt out already.
Thank you for posting this. It looks great.
Oh what a wonderful workshop, sounds like just the thing I might need! Thank you for the chance!
This sounds like a wonderful workshop! I think it would actually fit in nicely during the season of Lent. I would love to participate.
I would LOVE to be a part of this. It sounds SO good, and what ideal ideal timing, because, YES, February. Thank God it is over!
What a great idea!
I’ve thought about signing up, but it just isn’t in the budget right now. Winning a giveaway would be great!
It’s such a beautiful idea, love tow in!
Oh yes….water for the desperately thirsty :/
This is perfect timing as I have been suffering with major burnout. Would love this!! Thanks!
I’m surprised there isn’t more out there about burnout – it seems like a pretty big thing for women. I would love to win a spot in this workshop. I’m pretty young (early 20’s), but burnout is something I deal with a LOT and is something I need to learn to work through better – before we start having kids and also just to improve my quality of life.
Everyone needs a retreat to restore themself. As caregivers, we must nurture ourself so that we may take care of our families.
Wow! I would love to win a spot.
I’m burning out right now! Would love a little Lenten retreat to rejoice the mind , heart and soul!
I am burnt out and afraid I have been, sadly for those I love most, for some time. That is why I am all signed up for the workshop but I would love to win this for a friend.
I would love this! After 15 years of homeschooling you’d think I be used to burnout. At least I know when to expect it and that it too will pass. 😉
