~ Two of my favorite things are knitting and reading, and the evidence of this often shows up in my photographs. I love seeing what other people are knitting and reading as well. So, what are you knitting or crocheting right now? What are you reading? Take a photo and share it either on your blog or on Flickr. Leave a link below to share your photo with the rest of us! ~
I’m so excited to have started the Follow Your Arrow knit along this week! After much debate, I ended up beginning Clue 1A Monday night while watching the latest episode of Downton Abbey. That was a mistake! After an hour or so of knitting, I had made great progress when I realized I had actually omitted quite a few rows. I had to rip the whole thing out and start over. I blame Downton Abbey.
I am nearly finished reading The Song of the Lark, and have been dipping into Crossing to Safety as well. Both are really great books.

Mystery Kal, Option 1A here too. I can totally relate. I knitted and made good progress… until I realized repeating 4 rows twice more means you need to have three repeats in total… But I finished clue 1 yesterday in the train home. I still really love your yarn. I wish mine was a little bit more like yours 🙂

Hi Ginny, I’d like to learn how to knit. Do you have any suggestions on how to start or a good book/website to learn from? I would love to do what you do! Thanks
p.s love your blog:)

Thank you for hosting this “yarnalong” I love being able to see what everyone else is creating!
Cary says
Ha!!! I did the exact same thing! I started 1 A (during Downton) and decided that it just didn’t seem right, so I ripped it out and started again. I think I got it right this time:)

I’m doing the MKAL too Ginny – my first KAL and first lace project. I’m doing 1b and loving it so far. Your yarn colour is gorgeous!!! Mel x

Downton Abbey and knitting can be very dangerous, indeed! I had to rip back half a mitten after the last episode!
Jennifer says
I cannot knit while watching Downton! It just doesn’t work! That’s why I’m so slow on catching up with what I’ve missed, I have a hard time choosing one or the other!
Ruby says
I very much want to knit while I watch Downton as well, but it doesn’t seem to work. Apparently I can’t handle two great loves of mine at once. 🙂
Barbara says
I can’t knit anything that needs my attention during Downton, so I agree completely with your deduction. 😉
Fam says
I know what you mean with Downton, also happens with call the midwife for me as well 🙂
Emily says
Ha, I’m knitting clue 1 this week as well (B), and I’ve also had to frog it due to Downton. I love it so, though.
Serena says
Love the cheerful color you have chosen for this!
Kathi says
Yes, please blame Downton. I find that sometimes you have to pay attention to keep up with what is going on. A lot happened in that episode!
Donna says
I blame Downton Abbey for my latest knitting mistake – resulting in having to frog 3/4 of a shawlette… We shall simply call it “knitting practice”. Sound good?
Susan Chambers says
It was so hard to decide which option to go with, but I finally decided to start with clue 1B–so much fun! (I had to frog back a few rows the other night, too…knitting and watching Blacklist ; ). I’m loving the Beaverslide yarn–I’ve got the ‘prairie sand reed’ color. Happy knitting.♥

you are still further than I am on the mystery shawl….I’m still waiting for my yarn!!!!!

The Christening photographs are beautiful. I love the gifted gloves and now plan to make some for my husband.
What a fun project, but shame about the unravelling. I love the yarn colour and keep seeing gorgeous rich warm coloured yarns on all the yarn along posts. I think that’s the direction I’ll go next time.
happy knitting

I am loving the mystery knit! (I chose option B)
Are you on season 4 in the US?
Briana (justamouse) says
I didn’t watch that episode, but I heard, and I think I would blame Downton, too!
Gretchen R says
It was a heartbreaking episode! No wonder!!
Alex H. says
I often wonder how you have time to get it all done! I barely find time to knit, let alone read!
Kathleen says
I try to only knit simple things during Downton Abbey because I get too excited! I am also doing the the KAL and it is coming along nicely. I love being able to knit something for myself. Enjoy!
Dawn says
Braithewaite is causing me to miss O’Brien, something I never thought would happen.
Love the colorway of that yarn.
Ruby says
Yes! Completely agree! She is bothering me to no end.
karen says
downton abbey requires non lace knitting! I was watching tv last night and picked up a sock and lovingly put away my lace shawl 🙂 Great color of choice!!!
Cloudberry says
Sorry you had to rip back and start over.
I have the yarn ready, but haven’t decided if I shall cast on clue a or b….
