~ Two of my favorite things are knitting and reading, and the evidence of this often shows up in my photographs. I love seeing what other people are knitting and reading as well. So, what are you knitting or crocheting right now? What are you reading? Take a photo and share it either on your blog or on Flickr. Leave a link below to share your photo with the rest of us! ~
I read The Orchardist over the last week after seeing it on one of Karen’s Yarn Along posts. I thought it a unique, moving book and I was pretty engrossed by it. This is not a light, happy read, but a sensitive one. I found myself a bit haunted by the story and the characters after finishing it. I would recommend it, if you like to read an epic tragedy every now and then. If you are especially sensitive, I wouldn’t read it because there is some difficult subject matter (Karen warned me, but I felt up to it.) I have taken up with Jane Austen’s Sense and Sensibility since finishing The Orchardist, ready for something light.
I still have several baby knits on the needles, but am taking a little detour to knit a Botanical Cowl. The pattern is very simple and easy to execute with interruption, which is perfect for me. I am already more than halfway through it, and hope to finish it up this week. I’m knitting it in Madelinetosh Pashmina, in probably my favorite colorway: filigree.
I almost forgot to mention: In case you missed yesterday’s post: I updated my Sunday Sweater pattern to include sizes 8 and 10. I also updated my Simple Newborn Hat with a Touch of Lace (what was I thinking with that crazy long name? I am so tired of typing it!) and you can now download a pdf of the pattern from the original post.
