~ Two of my favorite things are knitting and reading, and the evidence of this often shows up in my photographs. I love seeing what other people are knitting and reading as well. So, what are you knitting or crocheting right now? What are you reading? Take a photo and share it either on your blog or on Flickr. Leave a link below to share your photo with the rest of us! ~
The funny thing is that I haven’t been knitting much at all this past week! I did finish a Christmas sweater for Silas, and actually that was a little intense. I’ll post photos and details on that tomorrow. Since then, my knitting energy has been low. I knit a sweet little pair of baby booties though (for a friend’s baby,) and am pleased with how they turned out! I knit a pair of these for Silas when he was a little baby, and he wore them so much. They knit up very quickly, and actually stay on babies’ feet.
I received a surprise birthday gift from a friend last week, a copy of The Knitter’s Book of Socks. I sat down and started reading it like a fiction novel immediately. This book is fantastic. Clara Parkes really gets down to the knitty gritty, discussing what makes a great sock starting with fiber choices and discussing nearly every aspect you would need to consider when knitting socks, all without being all boring and textbook-y. I am sure to have my second ever pair of socks on the needles soon.

Love this site. Is it too late to sign up for the Yarn Along? I didn’t see a link for it.

One of my resolutions is to get back in the game with my knitting. I am looking forward to checking out the sweater that you made for Silas. Happy New Year!

I love that you have these wonderful Link parties, Ginny. I linked-up our Chrismas ornaments, but didn’t get around to showing pics of the book I read, which was , ‘The Woman in White’ by Wilkie Collins. 🙂 Usually I’m too busy to do both (reading and knitting) but somehow I managed this past couple of weeks.

Hi,
I have found your blog accidentally, when I was searching web for knitting yarn. I’m from Romania (Europe), so please excuse my grammar errors. You have posted on your previous subject a photo with three walking children. I like very, very much the red hooded knitted jacket. Do you think you can send me a more detailed photo of the red jacket? I want to show it to my mother to knit a similar model for my six years old daughter. And if there are some indications for the bottom part where you multiply knitting stitches.
Thanks,
Diana

Hi Diana,
I am not Ginny and she usually answers her comments but in case she didn’t see this…I think the sweater you are referring is called Phoebe’s sweater. The pattern can be found in this beautiful children’s book http://www.amazon.com/Phoebes-Sweater-Joanna-Johnson/dp/0578046970/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1357305471&sr=8-1&keywords=phoebe%27s+sweater
Hope that helps!
Dawn

Thank you, Dawn!! I try to answer questions as soon as I see them, but those times that I can’t, they do get forgotten sometimes!

It seems like I have not been knitting anything else but socks and mittens for the last half a year or so… 🙂 Oh, hoods, and wrist warmers, too. With our cold winters here and three little ones I need quite a lot of them. And I still have several projects in mind… It was a thoughtful gift that book of socks! Personally, I need a lot of inspiration for such kind of repetitive projects like socks.

Thanks for reminding me to add this one to my library!
