~ Two of my favorite things are knitting and reading, and the evidence of this often shows up in my photographs. I love seeing what other people are knitting and reading as well. So, what are you knitting or crocheting right now? What are you reading? Take a photo and share it either on your blog or on Flickr. Leave a link below to share your photo with the rest of us! ~
Knitting on Keats’ Milo picked up this week. I also blew the surprise when I tried to casually measure the distance between his shoulder and armpit. He was on to me immediately. That’s okay. It’s miles of stockinette now, and if Keats knows about it, he can help me knit it.
Somehow I ended up picking up what I believe are Stephanie Pearl-Mcphee’s first and latest books this week. All Wound Up has actual chapters, so I read a bit at bedtime. At Knit’s End has little snippets, so I pick that up when I have a minute here or there. I was a little slow to move into the reading about knitting genre, but when I finish these, I think I will have read all of Stephanie’s books. It’s nice to be reading a couple of light funny books that focus on knitting especially because September is going to be far too busy and I am stressing just thinking about it. I am ready for fall temperatures, but as for all the rest, I’m not quite there yet.
Katharine @ bluestocking says
I’m reading her complete works too!
Kathy says
I know how you feel about September coming… lots of stress along with the cooler weather!

I love the chroma wool. The colours are lovely!
Saying prayer for peace in your busy days! xo

Love those colors together! And I definitely need to check out one of Steph’s books from the library. I think I’ll do that this weekend in preparation for fall 😉 Good luck getting ‘ready’ for September!

Thanks for hosting this. I’m having fun.

I love the color yarn you’re using. I’ll have to check out At Knit’s End! Sounds like a good one.

The books sound lovely; I have heard quite a bit about them – I shall see if I have any luck in our library!
makneta says
I love colours of the Keats’ Milo.
Jules says
You chose a beautiful color yarn. Eben would love that color combo too. September is a busy month for us too. Getting back into the swing of school and all. Always a struggle.
Miles of stockinette. Atleast it’s mindless!

Ginny, You are not confessing to knitting “too much” are you? You don’t even believe in such a thing, do you?
I just posted Chloe’s knitting that I told you about yesterday 🙂

i’m loving one of her books right now! I have the ones you’re reading too, but haven’t read them yet. Her writing IS funny.
And I really like the colours in your knitting:)

I linked to the project I just finished since I haven’t started a new project yet. I hope that’s okay!

Lots of Milo knitting going on here lately…lots of new babies arriving this fall. Your books sound like good reads.

I just knit a couple Milo’s with worsted too; I also dropped the needle size and both turned out about two sizes larger than the instructions I was knitting from (knit size 4 for a size 6 result). I have notes on my Rav pages for those interested:

Love how yours is looking! I want to make a rainbow one next.

I love the Yarn Harlot, too. Have you ever watched one of the YouTube videos showing how fast she knits? It is truly amazing. Gorgeous colors in that Milo (I always like the colors you choose)–can’t wait to see it when it’s finished.
Tina says
You’re reading two awesome books and I have to say Stephanie will keep you in “stitches”. I too am ready for fall, it’s been a very long hot summer. Happy knitting 🙂
Nicole says
I have yarn sitting here waiting to knit into my first Milo. I love the colors you chose – so fun. I also like McPhee’s books and had not seen that last one. Happy stockinette stitch knitting!
Jen says
She is quite a hoot! Knitting Rules! is probably my favorite of her knitting books. The generic sock pattern is the one I used for my first grown-up sock.
Ginny says
Knitting Rules may be my favorite as well!
Donna says
I just love the colors you are knitting with. Both books are great!
Renee says
The books look great, Ginny. Thanks for the recommendations – I’ll check them out.
Hurrah for Autumn! Happy knitting everyone 🙂

They both look like good books to be reading. I’ll be looking for them. I just got a couple of free knitting books for the Kindle reader. I’ll have to add them to my post today.

Oooh! The Milo vest is on my list of things to make! I want to try to knit one for my two year old. It is so sweet that your son will help you with the knitting!
I joined in for the yarn along this week! More washcloths, but this time in a fancy new color for a friend’s new baby!
Natalie says
I love the colours in the vest. Almost exactly what I picked for my son’s hat.
Emily T. says
Oh I was wondering how the milo was coming along. I love the colors so much.
Kate says
I love thecolors of the milo. And I just finished All Wound Up too and loved it.

I like Stephane’s work . Part of her allure is her parenting too. Did you know she was a la leche league leader.

Thank you for hosting another WIP! I was away for three weeks. I am so happy to be back, again! I love looking through other links to see what are others working with!

Oh, I love the colors in that Milo! I think I will have to make some new ones for my two as well, one of these days…
I also love Stephanie Pearl-McPhee; I haven’t read At Knit’s End but I think I might look it up in the library. xo
Nadja says
I knit a Milo for Gemma last year with the Chroma, and it turned out very nice. I think your project notes would be great for those of us who’d like to knit Milos in larger sizes!
Ginny says
Nadja, all I am doing it knitting the size 6–the chroma is worsted weight (rather than the dk weight called for in the pattern) and the thing looks huge to me–
Kathleen says
I love the color and I will have to check out those books. Happy Knitting!
Jacq says
The colors are lovely! I started the size 6 Milo for my youngest who is nearly 8, but its not going to fit and I don’t know how to make it bigger!! Any suggestions??
Jacq
Ginny says
I am using worsted weight yarn rather than dk, and the vest looks really big to me–I didn’t do anything technical or responsible like knit a gauge swatch, so hopefully it’s going to work!
MamaAshGrove says
oh my heavens, I love At KNit’s End! I laugh aloud while reading it!
Beth @ MamaintheQuietCorner says

The blue and green variation is lovely! It will look really nice on Keats.

You always have such beautiful yarn!
I love Stephanie’s books. They’re so hilarious, I often end up finishing them in one go and then mourn that the book didn’t last longer.
Tracey says
Sound like you have one smart young man there Ginny. It’s so nice that he can help you with the knitting, I think that will make the project even more special.
