~ Two of my favorite things are knitting and reading, and the evidence of this often shows up in my photographs. I love seeing what other people are knitting and reading as well. So, what are you knitting or crocheting right now? What are you reading? Take a photo and share it either on your blog or on Flickr. Leave a link below to share your photo with the rest of us! ~
I am still reading the same book, and I am still knitting the same sweater. BUT, I am almost finished with both. The Betrothed is easily one of the best books I’ve ever read. I’ve had to fight the urge to drop everything to read for the past week. I have discovered that I definitely love historical fiction. The stack on my nightstand is growing with all the books I want to read next, all of them much lighter reads which I am looking forward to as well. I am at the very end of the second sleeve on Larkspur’s sweater and it will be finished. I’ve still got a cowl, a shawl, and some socks (Seth requested that I add three inches to the length of each {SIGH} so I still haven’t moved on to the heel) on the needles, but I know that I’m going to want to cast on something new as soon as the sweater is finished. (updated to add: I stayed up late and finished the sweater!!)

Hi,
First time over here and I enjoyed my visit. I love reading your post. Your sweater looks beautiful.
I’m going to look for the betrothed, sounds like my kind a read.
Thanks for the link button, I’ll put on my side bar to be sure and come back again to see what everyone is working on.

What a nice old battered book! I can’t understand anyone getting nearly as much pleasure from reading on a Kindle! I’m reading The Blind Assassin by Margaret Atwood, which is excellent, and very cleverly set over a lifetime, with great attention to historical detail. Highly recommendable!
I’ve only just discovered your blog, glad I have! 🙂
Tina says
Ginny your books sounds quite interesting and I’ve added it to my list of must reads. I love all your projects too… looks like you’re keeping quite busy 🙂
Debbie says
I just saw that book in a book catalog that came in the mail. It sounded interesting…I might have to get it on your recommendation! Thanks. Love your knitting.

It’s fun to see what everyone is working on!

Just joined your flickr group! (Decided to make a new account to dedicate toward knitting project photos anyway!) This is a great idea!

I need to just sit down and finish my sweater too. But then I’d have to decide on the next project and that is sooo difficult!

i love seeing all these links and being able to post my own!

A finished sweater, I have yet to experience that! Love that rich brown color, looking forward to seeing pics of the finished piece!
makneta says
I can’t wait to see the finished sweater, the color is great.

I’m not linking today because I’m still working on the same Immie sweater, but I just wanted to say that I am always impressed by how lovely and even your stitches are.

It’s so hard to keep up with everything that wants to be knit, isn’t it! I squeeze too many late nights in search of a few more completed rows.
I’m interested in your book. I love classic historical novels!
Charity says
Hooray for finished sweaters! Have you ever read “Katherine”, by Anya Seton? It’s one of my old favourites, and you may enjoy it, too!
Ginny says
Yes!!! It’s one of my favorites too. I just read that one last year (or the year before.) So good.

Hi Ginny,
I’m joining in again. Looking forward to seeing the finished photos of Larkspurs jumper, I don’t know how you manage to do what you do!

So glad you got the sweater done! Can’t wait to see it!

I love that you stayed up late to finish the sweater! I stayed up late trying to finish a chapter on my book, despite knowing I’d have to get up super early. Sometimes these things are so worth the quiet, later night time alone!
Sara says
Can’t wait to see the finished sweater! It’s such a great color. 🙂

Beautiful sweater, Ginny! I am joining in the Yarn Along again for the first time in a long time. I think that I finally have the hang of knitting:)
Kitty Rose says
Congratulations on finishing the sweater! I’ve never managed to finish one for an adult. My limit seems to be about 4 year old sweaters. I love the look of your well thumbed book. Hope to see a picture of your finished sweater.
I also want to say thanks for hosting this link party. It’s been a source of motivation to get me reading properly again. Thank you so much!
Nadja says
ACK! It kills me that you knit so quickly! I love the lovely mousy brown of the sweater. Those natural colors are my personal favorites.
Darcel {the mahogany way} says
Will you post photos of the finished sweater? That coal will be so pretty when its finished….I really like the color.
Ginny says
Yes, I am going to post photos!
Darcel {the mahogany way} says
That was supposed to read cowl not coal….auto correct on my phone.

I haven’t been knitting much this summer so it’s fun to get back here and see what everyone is up to. Thanks for hosting!

I laughed at your comment about having to make the socks longer. When little boys show any interest in our knitting, we all listen, don’t we?! Congrats on finishing the sweater. I’m sure you’ll be nice and tired today…but the sweater is done! I’ve spent too many nights up late knitting and paying for it later. Have a great day.

I’ve been reading your Yarn Along for ages here and at numerous other blogs and today I finally joined in…hooray 🙂

Yay for being almost finished with sweaters and books!
I have a post all written up, and as soon as I fix whatever the heck is making iPhoto crash every time I try to upload photos, I’ll get it linked up here… xo
Debby says
Well done. Your knitting is so much neater than mine. I must learn to take more time like you Ginny.
The novel sounds intriguing. I don’t usually read novels set more than a century ago but the brief synopsis on Amazon sounds fascinating. I must remember this one.
Hope your morning in the garden was fruitful…the best place to be in the early hours…unless bed calls you back!

Woo Hoo on the finish. I had hoped to have the little doll done, but she still needs a leg! Soon, very soon. Historical Fiction is one of my favorites. I will need to check this one out.

Can’t wait to see the finished sweater. I was intrigued by your current read and found a copy for myself. Happy Knitting!
Victoria @ Mommy Marginalia says
Congratulations on finishing the sweater! Can’t wait to see it (modeled?)! I love historical fiction as well, but do have to alternate with other, lighter, books or nonfiction or I start swooping down the stairs like I’m wearing a gown (and other affectations). Have a beautiful day!
Mia says
P.S. Is that an instagram photo? it’s beautiful.
Ginny says
no, I don’t do instagram. thank you!!
Mia says
Oooh, can’t wait to see the finished sweater Ginny, looks beautiful, well done! x M

Yay for the finished sweater. I hope you aren’t paying too much for your late night! May your day be as smooth as possible. I love historical books too. They seem to be so much richer in a sense. Jacinta
Ginny says
I agree about the richness of historical books. I am up and getting ready to knit on my circumnavigate and then I think I’ll go work in the garden for a few minutes before everyone wakes up. I got six consecutive hours of sleep, so I feel good!

Your photo is so atmospheric – love it.

Great sweater and don’t you love when it is almost done? That can only mean one thing, cast on another!! Oh and thanks for the book recommendation 🙂
Tracey says
Congratulations on finishing the sweater, that is such an awesome feeling.
I haven’t read historical fiction in awhile, but do love it too. One of my all time
favorite books is The Autobiography of King Henry Vlll, have you read it?
