I was supposed to spend this weekend making chore charts of some sort.  On Saturday everyone (well everyone but Jonny and I) woke up on the wrong side of the bed, so instead I cast on a new knitting project.  I’ll work on the chore system next weekend.

Our blackberries are ripe.  We ate our first blackberry roll, and I promised to make another one today.

Larkspur has her first loose tooth.  For some reason this really threw me.  She is going on six and a half though, so I am not sure why seeing that adult tooth peeking through shocked me so much.

Jonny and the boys are making progress cleaning up the yard.  I am feeling much calmer about the whole situation.

We’ve mostly been ignoring our bees, but over the weekend we decided to open them up and see what they’re up to.  They seem allright (not that we know what we’re doing) and it looks like they have made some honey.  It’s not for us though.

Back to that new knitting project though:  I’ll show you on Wednesday.  (I know Mom, not everyone cares about knitting.)  (She has to remind me sometimes.)

p.s.  In case anyone is wondering about Larkspur’s nurse outfit: here’s the post about that.

I just made a chore chart that I am crazy about. I am thinking about putting it in the book but I’ll give you a private peek if you want to make one. Chores. Fun! Er, sort of.

I DO care about knitting a LOT – actually I’ve been knitting and crocheting again after many weeks spent studying so now I can’t wait for YARN ALONG to share my project with everyone…
and I like to think that everyone cares about knitting – even my non-knitter friends think it’s cool 🙂

I was just thinking of you and felt the need to stop by and let you know how thankful I am for you! <3 Your mention of a chore chart has me intrigued…I just received a copy of 'Managers of their chores' in the mail along with the chore packs.I hope to look it over this week. Please tell me you'll post about the chores, especially for the younger children! 🙂

I read your blog every day. I should comment more, but I don’t. Today, I have to comment on the Gabe and Silas picture. I remember right before you had Silas you wrote that Gabe insisted that he would never love another baby like your Beatrice. Well….looks like he was wrong 🙂

He still claims that babies are too troublesome…but he kisses Silas almost as often as I do 🙂

Our local organic market had blackberries—at $10.00 a quart!!! You’ve got a fortune setting on your table!!! I really think your mom might be wrong about not everyone caring about knitting!

Um, who says not everyone cares about knitting (besides your mom)? I care about knitting….not that I’m the only person in the world but that’s not the point.

So yes, Wednesday better have some knitting content so I feel better 🙂

Yes, Mom, in my perfect world “everyone” does care about knitting. Not “everyone” cares about vegetable gardens……gasp. Don’t mess with knitters. Just ask the USOC.

Please talk to me about blackberries (or take a picture for me). I want to know how to “trellis” them or something. Do you have a fence around your blackberry patch? I planted my thorny blackberry patch last year. I have been at a loss as to how to control them. They sort of grew in every which way and I don’t know how to keep the thieves out of them. I use netting for my blueberries and it works, but I can’t net these. I did prune and weed under them in the spring but then the canes themselves starting growing like gangbusters and it just got out of control. I had tons of beautiful blackberries ripening but we only ate a few bowlfuls before the “thieves” helped themselves to them.

Well, I could take a picture, but ours are a huge messy untamed bramble. Every year Jonny says he is going to do something about it…but we never manage to make taming them a priority!

After reading your post I am sitting here wanting blackberries. Ours were ripe in May, which is so early, but then everything has been ripening early this year. I think there may be a bag in the freezer, fingers crossed.
