~ Two of my favorite things are knitting and reading, and the evidence of this often shows up in my photographs. I love seeing what other people are knitting and reading as well. So, what are you knitting or crocheting right now? What are you reading? Take a photo and share it either on your blog or on Flickr. Leave a link below to share your photo with the rest of us! ~
I totally caved. Thinking about a friend who has a baby due in a couple of months, I felt that it was an emergency that I knit something for her. Nevermind the stark contrast between the fingering weight shawl and a worsted weight cardigan for a newborn. I am closer to finishing the shawl. Sixteen rows to go I believe, and truly I do love that pattern (and am a little sad that the shawl is actually not for me!) Saturday I had an hour or two to spare and I found this cute pattern, the baby vertebrae. I remembered a bare skein of yarn that Genevieve gave me with an order…and the next thing I knew I was dyeing it a nice raspberry pink. Now that I’ve got this cute little cardigan started, I think I can go back to the shawl and finish it up.
I picked up a book about the Duggar family at the library this week and just finished reading it. I’ve never seen their television show before and this is the first I’ve read about them. I really enjoyed reading about their family and the way they do things. I think I’ll read their new book as well.

At last I had a post that fits the yarn along again. In dutch, but it deals with learning the two handed knitting technique, for Fair Isle knitwork.

No crafting updates, but that’s because I just got done compiling my list of “Simple Living Books for Children”, a list of books that have inspired multiple generations to slow down and appreciate the finer things in life.

How exciting, and what a small world. Baby Vertebrae was written by a long time real-life friend of mine! We’ve even lived in two different countries together 🙂

The Duggar family – I watched their show with reservation, making all sorts of assumptions on how they could make such a large family work. I found my assumptions lacking and have much respect for what they do and how they do it. Such happy kids too. Must check my library for the book.

What a beautiful color yarn!
I finally finished a sweet cardigan for my 18 month old boy – just in time, as it fits perfectly!
