We had such a good weekend. First Holy Communion was Saturday morning. I tried to get photos on the way in, and afterwards, but the boys don’t really cooperate for photos unless they are surrounded by priests. (You can see that photo here.)
We had friends over Saturday evening and they brought peonies! I only have one sad little weed choked peony myself and was thrilled to receive a whole vase full. I made a lemon blueberry buckle, a dessert that I was crazy about when I made it last year. This time I was sort of disappointed. I think I have officially gotten over sugar.
I was presented with wildflowers by the girls Sunday morning, and Jonny took most of the kids shopping for a little while so I could get some work done play. Seth stayed home with me and did a lot of complaining and wishing he hadn’t stayed because he was bored. No matter how much my kids argue when they are together, they don’t know what to do with themselves when they are apart! I suggested that since it was Mother’s Day that he make me a card. He did. I love it. I am not too proud to request handmade cards if they aren’t happening on their own.
I hope you all had a lovely weekend! I can’t believe it’s Monday already!
p.s. I am sorry that I missed Saturday Garden Journal. We’ll resume this Saturday.
you got two of the six in great pictures!! success!!! (I have 7 grandchildren and I have yet to get a great picture of all of them together.)
wildflowers, good food, family, friend…..I’d say it was a good weekend!
What a truly blessed weekend. Congrats to your boys!! and congrats to you for getting past sugar, that is no small task BY FAR! So proud of you!! Now tell me why after 40 days of going without it, I went right back to it 🙁

You are blessed!!!!
That photo of your keats and Gabe together is so beautiful!
Love those last two pics of the boys. You are a natural portrait photographer Ginny 😀
Those pictures of your boys are priceless. Sounds like your mother’s day was just about perfect. Aren’t we lucky to be moms?

Your boys look so handsome!
They both look so smart and handsome!
Handsome, handsome, handsome! May God bless them both! +JMJ+
Boys….Priceless!!!! : ))
Those last two photos are positively PERFECT. You have captured siblinghood with such clarity and humour.
Blessings…
Aww…they look so handsome! Keats looks so much like Jonny, no? I’m not above requesting cards, among other things, either. 😉
Lovely photos – the boys look like they have such fun together. Glad that you had a lovely Mother’s Day.
Dear Ginny, I found your blog. A blog is amazing! My English is very poor, unfortunately. I read slowly and globally 🙂 I read from the beginning and read of the end, once I meet in the middle …
I am also a Catholic Christian, a mother of four children (children are already adults) and a teacher – but I teach high school. I love my garden (http://dedeckovazahrada.blogspot.com/) and books and knitting and crocheting and handmade work. I admire your patience with your children and knitted things, fantastic!
I read the text (https://www.gsheller.com/2008/05/trash-or-treasure.html), it is very funny. My garden is a place where once was a dump. The soil is a lot of glass and porcelain cuts. My mum and her sister and brother (cca 1950), then me and my cousins (cca 1975) and my children (cca 2000), we all like looking for treasure in the soil and we wore bottles and scrap: Secret! Treasure! Diamonds!
Gratulations on their First Communion! VIVAT boys!
Have a nice day!
Greetings from Czech Republic! Petra
Sweetest pictures ever!
I love First Communion photos, especially with boys because you don’t usually see them so dressed up 🙂 It’s nice to enjoy it while it lasts. Congrats to your boys; they look so very handsome.
They are both soooo handsome. Gratulations on their First Communion! It is a big day for the whole family isn’t it!
I actually like the photos of the boys being brothers best. I wondered why the group of communicants was so small until I read your words. I still remember mine many years ago. I unashamedly ask for homemade items as well. Happy Mother’s Day, Ginny.
Fine looking young men indeed! Congratulations to them.
Congratulations to your two very handsome young men, Saturday must have been wonderful.
I love your card, I really only like homemade cards and have saved all of mine for the past 29 years.
Oh the boys look wonderful and I love those photos of them!
Oh my goodness those last 2 photos are fantastic- what marvelous young men you are raising. Homemade cards (even if you have to ask) are the gift that gives twice…once in the quiet of the effort that goes into making them! The mess that glitter leaves is a whole ‘nother kind of gift 🙂
