I have been away from blog-land for a couple of months (mostly) as we have just moved accross to Australia from the UK. Finally I have internet and I have settled down to do some catching up and how nice it is to be reading your postings again, I have missed them! My heart goes out to your friend’s family x

I love all the family pictures in this post! Neat old trees-so so cool. What is it about Virginia-it is just so old and cool and full of big trees and big fields that are beautiful and creeks and…oh wait-I’m trying to talk you into moving back to Georgia-not talk you into staying!!! Forget that-Georgia is REALLY cool too. It after all was also one of the first 13 colonies. Don’t forget that. And the coastal islands are really fun, and anyways up in north Georgia, you’ve got Blue Ridge and lots of hiking and scenic mountains, and fields of green and, and and… you’ve got to move closer!

My goodness, we are so close to this and have never been!

It’s positive now by seeing these photos that we will have to go.

As always, your pictures make me feel like I’m with you!

I went to Montpelier when I was in grade school. Oh the history. I can’t wait to take my son to some East Coast historical sights.

Did you enjoy your time there? It is on my list of things to still see while we are in VA.

Yes, we just bought our second annual membership (that’s always the cheaper option for us!) We’ve never actually toured the house, but absolutely love the grounds!!

Oh, and I love that vintagey (spell check tells me that that’s not an actual word) dress or top on Bea!

It’s actually a relatively new dress that she has made to look vintage!

Deodar Cedar. That tree is the main reason my kids like to visit!

Larkspur with her dress all up to carry her treasures is just like my C. She does the same thing and is totally oblivious to the fact her undies are hanging out. Cracks me up!
Love those baby kisses and Beatrix wit her wind blown hair <3

It looks like a beautiful visit! Montpelier is on my short list of places to visit. I think we might include it on a roadtrip next summer. Have a wonderful week, Ginny!

My favorite photo is of the honey bee colony living in the tree. Bees being bees. Love it.

The one that the kids are climbing is a deodar cedar. It’s amazing!

Looks like a great family outing! I have to ask – is the Gills Rock Fish Boil t-shirt from a family vacation, or was it a gift/hand-me-down/bought elsewhere? I grew up camping in Door County each year, and the pillar of fire when they lit the fish boil was always a favorite. Was just thinking your boys would probably love that explosion too 🙂

Lands End clearance–and I bought several in different sizes so it’s always being worn by someone!
