~ Two of my favorite things are knitting and reading, and the evidence of this often shows up in my photographs. I love seeing what other people are knitting and reading as well. So, what are you knitting or crocheting right now? What are you reading? Take a photo and share it either on your blog or on Flickr. Leave a link below to share your photo with the rest of us! ~
I’ve put my February Lady sweater on hold for a few days to knit up some Easter eggs. I am also working on a little felted basket to go with them. I think that my girls will enjoy hiding these eggs and hunting for them over and over again. For the eggs I am using this pattern in worsted weight yarns rather than the fingering weight called for. The result is that the eggs are just about the size of the real thing. Each egg takes me about twenty minutes to complete. I am using this felted bowl pattern for the basket, and will just add an I-cord handle to it before I felt it. We’ve been spending most of our time reading about bees, but I did pick up a charming and funny gardening read at the Library. Merry Hall follows the author’s renovation of a house and it’s gardens in post war England. It’s the first in a trilogy, and I suspect that I’ll read all three over the summer.

I sat my Feb Lady Sweater aside too. I guess I’m up to the sleeves next but this week has been so terribly busy I have not had a brain cell left to think about how to go about that! But the reading has been fascinating…

Oooo knitted eggs… digging out the sock yarn scraps!

Definitely a pattern I will try. And I’d better get moving if I’m going to fill 5 baskets! Thanks Ginny…

I love it! Eggs would kill me this year, maybe next?
Gilda Knits says
knit eggs = <3 One year, I made them bunnies. This year, I didn't know what to knit them. So, I got them funky drinking straws (they're shaped like glasses). I'd like to knit myself a nest though. 🙂
Wendy says
Cute little eggs . . . maybe I’ll manage something like that next year. Have always wanted to read those books–they look charming!
Earth Mama 101 says
I didn’t get a chance to post my yarn along last night, but it would have been knitted eggs too…in various self striping yarns…for four little people’s Easter baskets. If I get a post together I’ll come back and link. Hope your chicks and bees are doing well.
:)Lisa

I just love those eggs, a few years ago I knit a half dozen for my little lady. It’s such a great way to use up knitting scraps.
cpcable says
I never thought of knitting Easter eggs. What a great idea!
Cheryl says
Love your eggs. The stripey one reminds me of a child’s drawing of an easter egg. Different colour zig-zags. Cute.
Heather says
The eggs are precious. I bet the girls will enjoy them a lot.
Jen says
I love the eggs! I’ve added them to my “after Easter Sunday” knitting list! 🙂

I love the eggs! As you’ll see in my post, I’m knitting little bunnies. After seeing your knit eggs, I’m definitely going to make some of those for their baskets as well. I may do a felted version. A few years ago I made felted baskets for the boys that we still use each year. They were really easy and fun to make.
Linda says
Such beautiful eggs Ginny, lovely!
meghann says

DaenelT @ Living Outside the Stacks says
Such cute little eggs! I miss my kids being little so I could hide eggs for them.
Natalie says
Those eggs look great. My boys always love hiding them all day long…for each other, for us, for whoever will look for them. The knit ones look fantastic (I felted a few this year to replace our plastic eggs).
Ellen says
What adorable little eggs. Can’t wait to see your post showing the girls searching for eggs with their little felted baskets 🙂 I’m sure you’ll post, won’t you? 🙂 That book sounds very interesting. Surprisingly I’ve been able to pick up a fiction book and am enjoying it despite how overwhelmingly busy I feel at the moment – I guess I just need a little excursion from the stress.
Erin says
Cute eggs! May have to make a few of those for the littles.
Kate says
Cute idea, those little eggs.
Nadja says
I love it, Ginny! Dominic and Gemma would love that…I’m already overextended, but I think I am going to have to make time for these!
allison says
Such cute eggs! I love that they can be used over and over again without fear of breaking. I’ve also been working on an Easter gift this week–a little bunny.
Kathy says
Those knitted eggs are so sweet! What a lovely idea! I’m still working on my husband’s scarf, a hat for a friend’s daughter, and the Newbery Award winners. Hope you’re having a great week.
anji says
Oh, so pretty! I’ve been thinking about knitting up some Easter eggs too, but I managed to forget about them, and now it’s crunch time. Oh well, my goddaughters are going away for their vacation, so they wouldn’t be able to enjoy them anyway. There’s always next year. And anyway, I did knit Easter eggs with little chicks last year.
Kim says
Love the eggs, will bring lots of fun and laughter to the days ahead 🙂
Andee- Match the Pictures says
I really like your eggs. They are very cute. My grandmother made me ones like that years ago and she filled them with rice. She said they were bean bag eggs.
Sheeps and Peeps Farm says
The eggs you knitted are lovely… the basket and eggs are sure to be a big hit with your girls.
Angela says
Your eggs are gorgeous! I think I see some malabrigo in there. I am just about to begin mine. I think I will follow your lead and go with the worsted weight seeing time is short. Happy Easter and I hope you enjoy Holy Week.

Hm, I knitted some eggs and a felted nest to my boy as well! The eggs are all over the place since I can’t persuade him to let them on nest for a liithe bird to adopt them 🙂 We’ve already lost one of the six I knitted!
Rach says
Ginny, those eggs are just divine – I am going to check out the pattern, but am scared if they are knitted in the round… something I have not yet mastered! xx Rach
Kylie says
The eggs are so cute- I’m sure your girls will love them.
Joy says
Those little eggs are so cute! I knit, crocheted, and needle felted a bunch one year. I need to pull them out again. They work as filler eggs for our egg hunt so that it’s not all plastic, candy-filled eggs. 🙂
ericaceae says
The eggs are adorable. I like that they are true-to-life size too- it might give the girls more options for games with them.
ang says
hi everyone, blessings and happy knittings and reflective thankfulness wished upon you all at this easter season . xx
little macaroon says
those eggs and that trilogy look like wonderful ideas for both generations that sandwich me this Easter! I’m not big on candy-flavoured celebrations (I’m a terrible chocolate advent calendar bore – I think it comes from my stint as a dentist!) so knitted eggs sound perfect. And I know my MIL would adore these books if she hasn’t read them already.
Tracey says
I think our minds are on the same thought pattern, I will be knitting eggs and a nest all day on Friday. I want the wee one here to be surprised so I need to wait for a little break to knit them .
