Last night, while watching Wuthering Heights with Jonny, I finished my February Lady Sweater. Without even weaving in the ends, I immediately jumped up and put it on. It looked pretty frumpy. There was funny armpit bunching and it was definitely on the small side. I poured my hopes into the washing and blocking. I prepared to console myself with the fact that I thoroughly enjoyed knitting this sweater, and used stash yarn that I bought on super sale years ago. I shouldn’t expect too much from my first attempt to knit myself a sweater.
BUT OH MY GOODNESS, THIS SWEATER ENDED UP BEING PERFECT!
I hope that didn’t come across like prideful bragging. It wasn’t meant to be. I am just a little bit happy.
I coaxed Jonny outside today for a very serious fashion shoot to document this very important first in my little knitting world.
(Begging Jonny to stop what he’s doing-he was being so dorky ridiculous.)
Trudy has no respect for hand knits and actually hooked a claw in an eyelet. No damage done though.
p.s. I typed up extensive Ravelry notes here.
I knit this with Cascade 220 and used cedar buttons from Wooly Moss Roots.
I must say that the Cascade ended up being a very pleasant surprise. It makes a lovely garment.
p.p.s. We were watching this version of Wuthering Heights, but I’ll forever love Lord Laurence Olivier because of this one.
(and obviously, Jonny took all these photos.)

The sweater turned out beautiful and it’s the perfect color. GREAT job! I enjoyed making this one too but it turned out a little big. Can’t wait to see your next sweater!

Dear Ginny, I learned to knit thanks to you, after I’ve seen all the beautiful things you’ve done. SERIOUSLY.
Youtube helped me a lot with all the tutorials, and I wanted so badly to know how to knit!
Unfortunatelly I don’t have a blog, but I think I will make myself at least an account on flickr so that I can share with this beautiful community my first serious attempts.
Now I started to make a baby concentric stripes cardigan, for a friend who’s due in September. I think that baby garments make a good beginning; and that someday I’ll be able to knit myself a February Lady Sweater.
Kisses and hugs from Romania!

Ginny-
My jaw dropped when I saw your sweater! WOW! I am so amazed that it’s your first sweater. I love the pictures of you wearing it, they are so fun. And the green color suits you so well. I love the style of the sweater and the cedar buttons look so good on there, they went to the perfect home. Bless your heart for linking to us too.
Lots of Love, Taryn
P.S. I have yet to knit a sweater and this inspires me! Thank you!

What a beautiful sweater!! You did such a great job! I’m working on my first sweater as well — the Effortless Cardigan by knitbot. It’s been sitting in the basket while I’ve been working on smaller projects. You’ve inspired me to get back to work on it. Love the color of your sweater!! Really great job!! Congratulations!

That is gorgeous, and so inspiring! I’m working on my very first “for me” sweater too, Tea Leaves, and I’m almost done with the second sleeve but I realized I made a mistake about 25 rows back, so I’m trying to feel excited about frogging back a bit……I think you’ve inspired me to just get it done so I can wear it!

You did an amazing job! I struggled with the gull pattern and it turned out kind of wonky, but you did so good!! I am inspired to try again :-). Love the color you picked.
