~ Two of my favorite things are knitting and reading, and the evidence of this often shows up in my photographs. I love seeing what other people are knitting and reading as well. So, what are you knitting or crocheting right now? What are you reading? Take a photo and share it either on your blog or on Flickr. Leave a link below to share your photo with the rest of us! ~
I am slowly working on my bright, sunny cowl. I have been trying to drag it out a bit as one of you suggested. It really is such a nice knit. I will probably finish it before this post actually goes up though, as Jonny and I have a date with Downton Abbey tonight.
I am reading Little Heathens which was suggested to me by one of you. The author recalls her childhood on a farm during the Great Depression and manages to do so in a tremendously upbeat fashion. I am really enjoying it.

I loved “Little Heathens”! My grandma grew up in the rural South during the Depression. I wish I could ask her if her experience was similar. Sadly, she passed a few years ago.

Not sure you have read A Tree Grows in Brooklyn but it is a must!!

I will repeat it here: what a lovely shade of yellow. It reminds me of a fruit we have in Italy, la nespola, but i have never seen here. it’s one of the old kind of fruits, very seasonal, that people nowadays are forgetting…. I checked it:

Ooh, I forgot “Little Heathens!” It’s on my bookshelf. Maybe I’ll read that next.
Love your cowl. What a gorgeous color.

I love the colour of that yarn… I have a friend who loves yellow and it reminds me of her. I’d love to make her something like this (and, come to think of it, her birthday is in April!).

Still battling sickness here, so not much knitting. I do love Downton Abbey. I watched the last series when it was on PBS and am hooked this time as well. Of course, I end up watching it streaming on pbs.org (we don’t really have a TV). I will need to check out that book as Ted Gup’s book really struck me with his covering of the Depression.

The cowl is beautiful and I am so glad to see you are enjoying Little Heathens. I just knew you would. Also, I don’t have a knitting update this week (who wants to see week after week photos of my slow progress on my Anabel sweater?) BUT I have a question for you Ginny. My husband and I are Lark Rise obsessed. We have all 4 seasons on DVD and watch it at least 3 times a week (we’re almost through season 2) BUT how does it compare to Downtown Abbey? We don’t have cable so I’d have to buy it or get NetFlix, but before I do, does it compare to Lark Rise? Better? I’d love your opinion. Thank you!

I’m usually not a fan of yellow, but boy am I finding that color inviting during this dreary time of year here. And that lace patterns is so pretty. I think I might give it a go. Thanks.
