Yarn Along

~ Two of my favorite things are knitting and reading, and the evidence of this often shows up in my photographs. I love seeing what other people are knitting and reading as well. So, what are you knitting or crocheting right now? What are you reading? Take a photo and share it either on your blog or on Flickr. Leave a link below to share your photo with the rest of us! ~

I have never knit something for Jonny.  That may sound selfish of me, but I blame this deficit on the fact that I have so many small people to knit for, and also on the fact that he hasn’t made any requests, until now.  He wants fingerless mitts for this winter.  His home office doesn’t have a good heating system and he spends his work day doing a good bit of typing.  A pair of mitts will be good for keeping him a bit warmer.  He chose the yarn himself,  and was kind enough to choose one of my favorites:  Sweet Basil’s superwash merino, in a great gold and gray colorway called Godric’s Hollow.  I explained to him this evening that while I will need him to try these on as I am knitting them and help make decisions regarding fit, he will also be required to completely forget about them, so that I can surprise him with them on his birthday which is coming up.  Hopefully that will work out for me.
I did finish reading Anne of Green Gables last week, and started in on some important non-fiction reading: Overcoming Dyslexia.  I am learning so much and gaining confidence that I can indeed help one of my children who is a struggling reader.  A kind reader also sent me a new novel called The Language of Flowers, and I am a few chapters in.  The story’s emphasis on the main character’s journey through the foster care system has inspired a great non profit called the Camellia Network as well.
Below is a linky list if you’d like to add a link to your own Yarn Along photo.
(**And those of you posting crochet projects, don’t forget to add the word “crochet” next to your name to make yourself easier for other crocheters to find! )
(1) Make sure the link you submit is to the URL of your blog post or your specific Flickr photo and not your main blog URL or Flickr Photostream. Please be sure and link to your current Yarn Along post, and not a Yarn Along post from a previous week.
(2) Include a link back here in your blog post or flickr photo page.
(3) If you have any trouble linking up, just email me and I will help you!

You can also join the Flickr Yarn Along group to share your knitting and reading photos anytime!
