The last week of September is always a full one at our house. We celebrate two birthdays, Jonny is slammed with the busiest week of his fiscal year at work, and this year there are three baseball games for Keats and Gabe as well.
I’ve spent every night this week sewing a specially requested birthday gift after everyone is tucked into bed. Sewing late at night certainly has it’s setbacks, mainly multiple mistakes and re-dos owing to extreme sleepiness. Tonight I’ll be baking a cheesecake in addition to sewing for my birthday boy.
I have a pot of goldenrod simmering on the stove, hoping to dye some more yarn tomorrow. Rather than that feeling like “one more thing,” the process will be calming over the last few days of this crazy week.

Good evening Ginny, I happened upon your blog a few days ago when looking for a pattern to make my girls little felt crowns for Christmas and found your blog about making the girls ‘Princess Outfits’ – it’s now my pre-Christmas project to make my girls little outfits for Christmas this year. I think your writing is truly heartfelt and your photography really speaks to me of the beautiful joy of bringing up children. I love the picture above of Beatrix (I think it is) tucked up under a blanket – I haven’t knitted in absolute years (but your website is slowly inspiring me) – I wondered if you made that blanket and if so whether you still have the pattern?
Thank you,
Amanda
