Yarn Along

~ Two of my favorite things are knitting and reading, and the evidence of this often shows up in my photographs. I love seeing what other people are knitting and reading as well. So, what are you knitting or crocheting right now? What are you reading? Take a single photo and share it either on your blog or on Flickr. Leave a link below to share your photo with the rest of us! ~

(Please forgive the delay.  Beatrix spilled her smoothie on our router yesterday…)

I am really loving knitting things for the new baby.  This week I knit the Cascade cardigan for him, in the 12 months size, because he won’t be wearing it until he is five or six months old, and my boys are historically quite huge by that age.  I knit this using Sweet Basil MCN yarn in a dark green, and like the Sweet Basil superwash yarn I recently knit a little vest with, this yarn was really lovely to work with.
I love the Cascade pattern, although I made some minor changes because I think it is meant to be sort of tight fitting with sleeves on the short side, and I prefer long sleeves and a looser fit.  I also added an extra leaf to make the torso longer.  I will get this added to ravelry with my notes soon.  One last thing–there are a couple of errors in the pattern, so if you decide to knit this, read the comments on the pattern itself on Ravelry.  Oh, and since I took this photo yesterday, I finished the cardigan and then realized that one of the sleeves was a full ten rounds longer than the other.  I am tempted to blame my kids, as they love punching the button on my row counter, but given that it was exactly ten rows off, I better just take the blame myself.  So I am essentially back to where I was when I took this photo.
As far as reading goes, I am still reading Jane Eyre, and of course In Conversation with God, but I also picked up a fun book from the library this week, one I first saw on a Yarn Along post on one of your blogs:   A Perfectly Kept House is the Sign of A Misspent Life: How to live creatively with collections, clutter, work, kids, pets, art, etc… and stop worrying about everything being perfectly in its place.  This book is full of fun photographs and thoughts and I have really enjoyed looking through it.
Thanks so much for playing along friends!
(**And those of you posting crochet projects, don’t forget to add the word “crochet” next to your name! thanks!)

Below is a linky list if you’d like to add a link to your own Yarn Along photo.
(1) Make sure the link you submit is to the URL of your blog post or your specific Flickr photo and not your main blog URL or Flickr Photostream. Please be sure and link to your current Yarn Along post, and not a Yarn Along post from a previous week.
(2) Include a link back here in your blog post or flickr photo page.
(3) Oh, and if you have any trouble linking up, just email me and I will help you!

You can also join the Flickr Yarn Along Group to share your knitting and reading photos anytime!
