I had something else planned to write about today, well actually yesterday, but then yesterday got away from me, and so did today. Then this evening after her bath (and a futile attempt to clean the red marker off her face) Larkspur asked me to teach her to knit, and not for the first time. I’ve been hesitant to start teaching her (she just turned 5), but inspired by Elizabeth, I decided to try and get her started. Larkspur got the hang of a simple single cast on right away. I only wish I had captured the look on her face when she pulled that first little loop tight and realized what she had just done. After a long rough day, that little loop made us both smile with glee. Tomorrow we’ll move on to the knit stitch.
Wish Larkie luck!
Thank you Elizabeth.

What cast on method do you teach young children? I have taught my own children to knit but I have always cast on for them, but I am about to teach a small group of homeschool girls (6-10yr olds) to knit and I would love for them to leave knowing how to start their own project.
