Pieces of our days

From last Thursday and Friday:
Beatrix’s naptime chamomile tea steeping.

The end result of five children playing with colored water.

Lessons.

A little note from Seth, waiting for me by my desk.

A gift for Beatrix’s stocking, made with great excitement by her brothers and sisters while she napped.
(we put the broken pieces in a silicone baking mold in a 300 degree oven and just watched them until the crayons melted.  then I pulled them out of the oven and let them cool until they were set, but not hardened on the stove top. I then moved them to the fridge to fully cool and harden.  Finally we just popped them out of the molds.  They came out quite easily.)

The fun of watching a compressed pellet of peat expand.

The paperwhites planted in that peat, and a lemon cypress picked up at the grocery store.  Both to brighten my kitchen this winter.

The fun of a very simple craft, and a reminder that simple is good.  My kids don’t care whether or not they are doing the latest craft.

Paper chains have never lost their interest at our house.

And finally, at the very, very end of the day, a row of hungry kitties, reminding us that the chickens ate all their cat food and they need more.
I am also reminded that it is time to clean the glass.
