If you live in Virginia, and even if you don’t, you really should visit the Big Meadows area in Shenandoah National Park. This is one of our very favorite places.
Last time I was there (Jonny and a friend took the kids a couple of weeks ago while I was in NM) the blueberries were ripe and little fawns were abundant. This time, the little deer had lost their spots, and the blueberry bushes were flame red.
I stayed close to Beatrix while Larkspur and the boys ran wild with their aunt and uncle and little cousins from Georgia who were visiting last week.
You can play a great game of hide and seek in that tall fluffy grass, and that is just what Beatrix did almost the whole time we were there.
My goal now is to visit at least once every season. I can’t wait to see the meadow in winter.
