Excitement

 I have never been congratulated so many times on a pregnancy!  Thank you so much for helping to make these past couple of days so special and for sharing in our happiness!
 I am doing my best to stay focused on the present, because the present is already so full!  It’s hard not to wonder what life will be like a year from now though.  It’s hard not to wonder how I am going to get all I am used to accomplishing done as I start needing to go to bed at ten (or earlier!) rather than midnight.  Is it possible that I am going to have to slow down?! Oh dear!  I am already feeling so tired.
Something I definitely don’t want to forget is the reaction Larkspur had to the big news.  She was so excited she could hardly stand it.  She kept smiling and hugging me and then before I knew it she had raced outside to tell the boys.  Of those three, Seth is happy but too preoccupied with his own thoughts to be too excited.  Keats is thrilled; he’s always loved babies, and Gabriel, well, he’ll love this baby as soon as he meets it.  For right now he stands by his conviction that Beatrix is the only baby he’ll ever love (and boy does he love her!)
Larkspur (my daily gatherer of lovely flowers and wearer of wool hats when it is hot outside) has for the past few months really taken an interest in babies she sees at church.  I have heard the phrase, “Mommy look at that cute baby!” many times.  Seeing the little look of pure joy on her face on those occasions made me want a new baby in the house, even just to see her smile like that.  These past couple of days I have heard her singing little songs about babies and happiness and her dolls have been receiving special care.  How sweet it will be to see her in the role of big sister again.
Thanks again for all the sweet words of congratulations!

I believe that when you slow down and savor the small things, you don’t have to wish for a different life; you can discover beauty in the life you already have. {Find out more here...}
