Organically Raised *Giveaway*

I spent a recent morning pouring through a beautiful new cookbook, Organically Raised: Conscious Cooking for Babies and Toddlers by Anni Daulter, hoping to find some breakfast inspiration, not only for Beatrix, but the rest of us as well.  Not only is this cookbook full of great sounding recipes that focus on organic seasonal food for babies and children (and I say adults too!), but it is illustrated with beautiful photographs, and that really appeals to me.  Beyond the recipes, Organically Raised is the only book you need if you are looking for a guide on when and how to start your baby on solid foods.  It is full of good advice and answers to common questions, in addition to explaining all you need to know about making your own baby food.  There is even a chapter on special diets.  I do wish this book was around when my older children were babies, and I do think it will become one of my favorite baby shower gifts!

I chose to make “Anni Marie’s famous italian tomato-basil feta scramble” as I had all the ingredients on hand:  Organic basil from my garden, fresh eggs from our chickens, cherry tomatoes from the farmer’s market, and feta cheese, well, feta from the cheese aisle at the grocery store.  Three out of four being natural homegrown stuff is not bad though!
It didn’t take long at all to chop, mix, add a little salt, pepper, and milk, and cook this new breakfast dish.
She likes it!  (and so did Jonny and I, and her two siblings who aren’t afraid of new mixtures of food)
This is sure to become a summertime breakfast staple around here, and I am looking forward to trying some more recipes!  I am already looking towards fall, when apples are in season again and we can make “Ryan’s California Quinoa with superseeds, coconut, and cinnamon spiced apples!”
***Anni was kind enough to offer a copy of Organically Raised: Conscious Cooking for Babies and Toddlers to one of my readers.  To enter to win, simply leave a comment on this post.  If you’d like a second chance to win, post about this giveaway on your blog or Facebook, and come back and leave me a second comment letting me know.  I will announce a winner Saturday morning, July 10***
