Tonight after being in bed for a few minutes, Seth requested a pencil and paper. He gave me permission to share what he wrote. How is it that my nine year old son has already come to this realization?
He summed up my own recent thoughts perfectly (and caused me to fight back my tears in an effort not to embarrass him.)
I remind him daily just to try and enjoy and be thankful for each day he has been given. That’s my strategy when it comes to watching my baby playing outside with the “big kids,” my four year old telling me that she’s a “big girl,” and my first baby writing poems about the passing of time.

Many Happy Returns to Seth from all of us.
Dear Ginny, I have been following your blog for quite sometime now but this is my first comment. I love reading it in the morning and going through all the pics. You have amazing kids and the poem …(I have tears in my eyes.) Children amaze us in so many ways. Thanks for sharing it with us. A message to Seth from us remain twelve forever 🙂
