A glimpse ahead

“When spring came, after that hard winter, one could not get enough of the nimble air….There was only-spring itself; the throb of it, the light restlessness, the vital essence of it everywhere: in the sky, in the swift clouds, in the pale sunshine, and in the warm, high wind- rising suddenly, sinking suddenly, impulsive and playful like a big puppy that pawed you and then lay down to be petted. If I had been tossed down blindfolded on that red prairie, I should have known it was spring.”

-Willa Cather, from My Antonia

Right now the soil may be covered in snow and ice, but very soon, it will be time to start watching for signs of new life and hopefully not long after, our garden will look something like this.

Now is the time to start pouring through those seed catalogs and planning ahead.

We’ve got about thirty raised beds to build as well.

In May…

Our house won’t feel so small once we start living outdoors again!

And in addition to our fruit and vegetable garden, this summer there will be eggs as well!

I plan to enjoy the rest of winter, but spring will be here very soon.

followed by summer!

I recommend My Antonia if you enjoy books that are not necessarily action packed, but full of nostalgia and beautiful imagery.  Lately I have really been drawn to this type of literature.
**I could use a book recommendation myself as we are traveling soon and I just may get a couple of minutes to read.  Any ideas?
