Quick Recap

Beatrix is almost crawling. Even without having technically mastered this maneuver, she is definitely mobile now. She can scoot across the floor at an alarming rate.

Under close supervision, Seth got to give the riding lawnmower a try this weekend. He actually really impressed us, up until he drove it into the van. No one got hurt. In case you’re wondering, no- we aren’t going to start letting him cut the grass (but I can’t wait until my boys are big enough to start helping with this sort of thing.)
Oh, and I must mention that Jonny really impressed me by repairing the lawn mower on Saturday. We thought we were in for a big repair bill, and he tackled it himself with success.

The chickens are enjoying their small temporary run. Jonny has begun their large one, but it will probably be a week or two before it is complete. Yes, he is making it tall enough so that we can walk in it. We love love love these chickens even though they STINK!

The Golden Girls (Golden comets-we haven’t named them yet, can’t really tell them apart) are still awfully ugly. We are able to see past their ugliness to their inner goodness though.

And I will leave you with this image. We woke up today to discover that our fancy high efficiency front loading washer was not working. I am tempted to start a rant here on how much I dislike this machine, but after Jonny took it apart and discovered all of this inside the sump pump, I was better able to understand why it decided to quit working. So once again, Jonny to the rescue. Thank goodness. I would just die without a washing machine.
I’ve got a long to do list this week and I am planning to take the kids blueberry picking as well. I have another bubble dress all cut out (in that plum fabric) and I hope to sew it soon. I am really praying for God to help me put some structure in place as well. Things are feeling so crazy here. It really makes me just want to sit and look at fabric online to help deal with the stress. Seriously, if I had the time, I could spend hours doing that.
Oh, and last thing. We did end up going to our friends’ annual Fourth of July bash. We had planned to stay home this year, but decided we needed to get out. Our kids were having a bad day and we decided that a change of scenery would be good. Everyone did well, and Moses loved the fireworks. It’s fun to get to experience these sorts of “firsts” with him.
Okay, I think that’s it. Good night!

Ginny,I can also relate on seeing the fireworks with kids for the first time. Our Josie seen them for the first time this year (came home from Liberia in Nov.). After I prepared her for it (loud noises, etc.) she absolutely loved them. The look on her face was priceless, when they were all going at once she started jumping up and down. Then at the end she said that she liked them and wanted to watch them again. We laughed and told her next year.Andrea

That made me laugh out loud – Seth hitting the van. Glad it's okay.Hey – what brand of front loader do you have, can I ask? Our (not-fancy, terrible, top-loading) washing machine just blew up all over our floor, and we bought a new front-loader last week…so anyway, doing retroactive research. The thing isn't coming until later this month…Beatrix is getting so big!Rachel

Structure – you and me, too. I KNOW the kids need it. Do I need it? I don't know. I do know that on my own, I'd devolve into something very irregular, indeed. It is always a struggle. Tonight after church, how I wanted to look at them and say – dinner? Oh, come on! Just have a piece of cake and call it good. (My mom made us a cake…and that would have been enough for me, frankly.)
