I know this is a random photo. Jonny was holding her and wearing a dirty wife beater and I was trying not to get him in the picture. Anyway, I love her little face. Have I mentioned that I will be leaving her with Jonny for the entire day on Saturday? Probably not because while I am excited about what I will be doing, I am sort of sick about being separated from my baby. She’ll be fine though and I will be too busy to think about her too much. Right?
Our blackberries are ripe and we ate our first Blackberry Roll a few days ago. It was the best ever. You should try this recipe. We used about half white flour and half soft white whole wheat. You canjust make it with all white. I add some wheat so I can pretend it’s healthy and eat it for breakfast.
And for any of you reading who remember Willy, he’s still with us. Willy was my first cat and he is 13 years old now I think. He has always been a very generous sized cat but seems to be dropping some weight. I guess he’s getting old or he may be getting diabetic. I don’t want to think about that though. I can’t believe that when I got him I actually thought I could keep him in my bedroom at my parents’ house without them noticing. Our dog Bear gave his presence away by camping outside my closed bedroom door whenever I wasn’t home. My mom discovered Willy one day while I was out, but didn’t let on that she knew I was hiding something/lying to her for another week. Can you imagine what it was like when I realized I was busted? Actually, me hiding Willy in my room was pretty tame compared to all the other stuff I pulled. Glad those days are over.
A friend of mine made me the same Ravelry 'Good Luck' cowl last year with some hand-spun (brown) wool I'd given her. I love it and wear it most of the winter indoors and out. I've since made a couple more, in other colors. Our house is so chilly in the winter that I often wear a scarf or shawl around— the cowl is perfect, because I don't have to worry about it dangling into things like a bowl of pancake batter or a pot on the kitchen stove.
I like you multi topic posts. And I enjoy your writing.
I was just wondering – is Fioleta connected with Ginny? They should be! 🙂 Two very creative ladies.
Bea just keeps getting cuter & cuter! Are those leg warmers for you? I'm looking for a pattern for adult leg warmers. Could you share? The berries look so good! We stopped at a couple produce stands along the side of the road Tues as we returned from a very long day in the Bay Area. I really wanted to buy some berries & make a berry cobler BUT they were $14.50 for a half flat!! Too much for my blood. I'll stick with canned berries. I just ordered the yarn for 2 or 3 cowls from KnitPicks. I love things up around my neck in the winter! So far I've always used scarves. I thought a couple cowls were worth a try. Should be fun knitting them. All but one is knitted in the round. I use the two-needle method. Maybe I'll try just using one circular needle on one of these. I may as well learn how to do that too! I'm hoping my order comes in today. They shipped it Mon so it's had plenty of time to get here. I started my yoga socks the other night and I'm going to rip it out this afternoon because it's not perfect! They're just for me and I could let them pass (they are certainly wearable) but I just can't let something squeak by when they could have been better. Ripping out just means I don't have to buy as much yarn to keep knitting. I just use the same yarn over and over again. Ha!I don't mind your blogs touching on several topics. Actually, I rather enjoy them. Don't stop writing them whatever you do. Reading your blog is the highpoint of my day!
The legwarmers look totally gorgeous. Your photos make me want to do some knitting as well.
oh i love this post! the randomness and skipping around are all too familiar for this fellow mommy brain. i love the things you are creating and contemplating. and i think you look great in headbands (this coming from someone who has the same head "issue"). keep on throwing out little bits of your life – they are inspiring and funny and interesting.
You are one of the most adorable people I know. I LOVED that stream-of-consciousness post!!! Of course the OTHER difficulty with it is that your respondents don't know what to comment on – or where to start first! I wish I had some blackberry roll, but I'd need blackberries first and have none. I had an enormous tub of blueberries…and Ilya and Zhen at the ENTIRE THING while I was away. I could never wear a cowl no matter how soft. The leg warmers should be worn OVER your pants or with a skirt because they are absolutely BEAUTIFUL! I really didn't know you were such a magnificent knitter. I am so impressed. I was just taken to visit five kittens in a young lady's bedroom yesterday. And I was thinking how lucky she has such an understanding mother. I had to sneak cats in, too. But how I love cats.
I think that this is why I enjoy your blog so much. Your photos are wonderful and the things that you find beauty in and make you happy make me smile too.
