A handful of old pennies, a bottle of metal polish (non-toxic of course), and some flannel cloths = three children occupied for quite some time. Who knew?
The boys learned that pennies made before 1982 are made mostly of copper and the more recent ones mostly of zinc, so they sorted through to get the “real copper ones” and polished those.

I need to tell you how much I love your "blog aesthetics". That shade of green is so peaceful, and I have come to adore that photo of the boys and the tree. It really does express something about your gentle, loving, wholesome personality. Anyway. Just wanted to share the sense of pleasure and peace that came over me as your page came up….though it led to disappointment that I'd already read this one.

What a great way to keep them occupied!

My older son collects wheat pennies. He found a 1936 once at a zoo.
