She’s not here yet. However I have been in first stage labor for about 48 hours. I am having painful contractions that keep me up all night but then putter out during the day. So, I am pretty darn tired. Sleeping during the day isn’t much of an option at my house. I typically have long early labors followed by a very fast transition/birth, but this is dragging out much furthur than usual. Beatrix is staying her usual very active self, so she seems to be doing just fine. Hopefully I will meet her by the end of the weekend!

We knew it was coming. We wanted it to come. We have been waiting on this news for a long time. We have been waiting for Moses and Samuel for well over a year. Isn’t it crazy though that we get the call that they are CLEARED TO COME HOME three days before our fourth baby is due? That’s right. We are going to be making travel plans for Jonny to go and pick them up the second week of December. That is less than four weeks from now.
I am a very good mulit tasker and perform pretty well under pressure. This situation takes things to a whole new level though. Trying to plan for Jonny’s first international trip and two new children and giving birth somewhere in the midst of it is going to be a bit of a stretch for sure! I am trying not to totally freak out. Unless I work really hard right to keep myself together and pray a whole lot I will start dealing with some serious anxiety and nightmares, etc. So please please please if you have ever prayed for my family, do so now! I have been dealing with a lot of anxiety surrounding this birth-more so than my past ones. I am having fantasies about epidurals and such…of course homebirth midwives don’t carry anaesthesiologists with them to births, so I better toughen up.
I figure I can work on paperwork and packing lists etc. during the week I spend in bed after Beatrix is born. There is so much to juggle. Jonny has to get his job figured out. He works for the federal government and is on “production” which means he has a certain amount of work that must be done every two weeks, and then quarterly. His quarter ends the week he will go to pick up the boys. So in the meantime he has to get a ton of work done. He also has to take a week of sick leave when I have this baby (in the past he has taken two-but he can’t this time-oh dear). My mother in law will come to help though so that will hopefully take care of that second week. Then my mom will come to stay while Jonny is in Africa. Oh, did I mention, my dad and my stepmom are coming for the first weekend in December for a visit? This will be the first time they have ever seen our house and the first time we have seen them in a couple of years (they live in New Mexico-very far away from us). So I am excited and nervous all at the same time about that visit. I wanted to be able to put a lot of time getting my house just perfect, and planning perfect meals, etc. but probably won’t be able to do such a great job. It looks like Jonny will fly out that same weekend for Liberia.
Did I mention that we need prayers????
