~Two of my favorite things are knitting and reading and I love sharing my projects and current reads here. I would love for you to join me each month and share what you are knitting (or crocheting) and reading too! Post your photo(s) on your blog or on Instagram (#yarnalong) and then share a link below to either your blog or Instagram post!~ (this post contains affiliate links.)
Hello, and welcome back to the Yarn Along! Yarn Along is a monthly link-up beginning the first Wednesday of each month. Today’s link-up will remain open until the next one begins on April 4th. Out of consideration for others, please limit your links to posts that are truly in the spirit of the Yarn Along, sharing your current projects and what you are reading. Thanks for being here!
I got a little sidetracked and ended up knitting a new bonnet for Mabel last month, but I’m still working on my Flora Cardi. I realized, with great sadness, that it is probably going to be too big for me. I cast this on shortly after Mabel was born, and my measurements have changed significantly since then. I spent a couple of days trying to decide if I should rip it back and start over, but I didn’t have the heart to do it. I’ve decided to finish it as is, and then maybe toss it in the dryer for a few minutes if it is just entirely too big. We’ll see. Of course, the leg warmers I finished up last month already got accidentally washed/dried/felted, so maybe knitting things on the big size is a good idea…
I’m not reading very much right now outside of my morning devotions and read alouds to the kids. I’m reading Return to Gone Away to the girls. Beyond that, I’ve been too tired lately to read at bedtime. I am thinking about what I want to read next though. I finished Rilla of Ingleside, the last of the Anne books, and it’s time for something new!

Thank you for this wonderful tradition!

I love your taste in books! Have you read “In This House of Brede” yet? A wonderful book, though I will warn you it has a very sad and intense scene with a child’s tragic death. I normally cannot handle those types if things, but the book as a whole ends with a feeling of depth and wholesomeness and hope.
Or “The Hiding Place” by Corrie TenBoom? So good!

Have you and your girls read “The Wheel on the School” ? I think it would be a read aloud you would really enjoy.
I also have to tell you that I knit my niece a little vest in your indigo yarn and I loved it. It was a great yarn to work with and a rich colorway. One day I will have to post it on yarn along.

I love the bonnets you make for Mabel! Our two youngest children are nearly the same age so it’s fun to see what you make her. It’s too warm here in general for A. to get much wear out of the Knits I make her though.
I’m always happy when I see that someone else enjoys the Anne of Green Gables books. The last is so sweet and I alway wished that there was another to follow.
I added a second Y.A. Post today. I felt a bit bad that I merely edited yesterday’s regular post to be a Y.A. post, and realized belatedly that it was a bit gauche because it included a link to my shop. Anyway, that’s why there are two!
I’m so happy that you started doing Yarn Along posts again, and find that the monthly posts work better for me too.

I had earmarked yesterday (in Australia) in my calendar to make sure that I would be able to link up with your wonderful yarn along at a proper time this month. The last two months just flew by for me. I love your blog, I love seeing what everyone else is knitting and reading. Thank you so much for hosting!

There are so many other Lucy Maud Montgomery books besides the Anne series. Have you read the Emily books yet?
erinn says
I love the Emily series (refreshingly darker than AOGG)… but I really really love The Blue Castle, aka the adult version of AOGG 🙂
Matushka Anna says
I like the Emily books too, and haven’t read Blue Castle. Thanks for the recommendation.

I found out last week via instagram that my friend’s one year old has been wearing her adult size gloves because she can’t find toddler size – which is adorable, BUT excuse me, this is a knitter’s DREAM SCENARIO why didn’t you tell me he needed gloves? Don’t worry, he now has a pair of mittens 🙂

Your knitting looks beautiful as always. I’ve never heard of this author…so I had to check this book out and of course ended up ordering 2 others as well.

I once made a sweater out of alpaca and it was a bit stretchy and long so I washed it and that did the trick. It felted it just a bit and now it is perfect. Good luck with yours, it looks beautiful.

Dear Ginny…I hope the felting helps with your sweater. That can be so disheartening to spend so much time on something and find it doesn’t fit. Luckily, too big is a better problem than too small. And I have never heard of this book…I am happy to hear of more suggestions for my 9 year old who has a voracious appetite for read alouds. Thank you for the yarn along…I do enjoy it so much.

PS. I have bunny photos with my knits today, too. ❤?❤
